Winona Ryder Wasn’t Thanked By Angelina Jolie

Winona Ryder Wasnt Thanked By Angelina Jolie

Winona Ryder told Blackbook that Angelina Jolie never thanked her properly for securing her a plum Oscar-winning role in Girl, Interrupted.

During the 1990s Winona Ryder had an odd habit of begging directors to cast more talented actors to star opposite her. She fought for Christian Bale to star in Little Women and she also asked the director of Girl, Interrupted to cast Angelina Jolie. For one reason or another Jolie being a saint was not enough to get her the role. Ryder claims she had to fight very hard in order for the pouty actress to land the role as Lisa Rowe, which won an Academy Award in 1999.

Rather than do as most of us, and keep her chip on her shoulder to herself, Ryder has decided to air her gripe. She claims that even after ten years she has never gotten a thank you from Jolie, after landing the role on her behalf.

Find out what Winona Ryder had to say to Blackbook along with twelve photos.

Winona Ryder tells BlackBook that she was responsible for Angelina Jolie getting the Girl, Interrupted role that won her a 1999 Oscar. “I fought very hard for her to have that part,” she says. “And a simple thank you would have been nice.”

“I feel like it won’t read in print very nicely if I say that wasn’t really her style,” Winona says. “But she seems to be a completely different person now.” Still, Winona insists: “I never had any bad feelings about Angelina.” (via LA Times)

She never thanked me for turning her down so she could hook up with Brad either!

    1. That Angelina Jolie is everso ungrateful, she seems to have a lot to be thankful for ;)

Angelina’s more talented? I doubt that. They’re about the same: Angelina always plays the same tired femme fatale and Winona always plays the same tired disaffected teen.

I actually like Ryder more, but she’s pretty much a dbag for getting all bitter and bringing up ol’ sh!t like this. MOVE ON, WOMAN!

    1. I think I loved every word of that comment – yep.

The two are type-cast and yes, Winona needs to get a hobby and find something else to occupy her time, so she doesn’t sit and stew on ten year old beefs like this one.
