Wearing a belt with her name and inexplicably whipping her hair away from the camera, Willow Smith has released her single cover. Whip My Hair got everyone talking upon its radio release and immediately there was speculation about with which record company she would sign. From memory she signed with Jay-Z and so is in good hands as she prepares to release the record with label backing. The nine-year-old, who most went easy on with their criticisms due to her age, seems to have people divided. Which is a great start. Some loved it. Some thought it was overly-auto tuned garbage, Sounds about right. You can’t please everyone.
Here’s the single cover, which at nine shows more taste, personality and energy than the second album cover of Cheryl Cole; Cole’s budget photo shoot/ styling/ photo editing affects/ font choice etc. etc. etc. got people talking about how it could be the worst album title, Messy Little Raindrops, and cover ever. Aside from the fact you’re missing that cute little face, this is a great cover and blends nicely with the preview video uploaded to her YouTube some weeks ago.
According to That Grape Juice, Willow Smith’s Ray-Kay-directed music video for Whip My Hair will debut on October 18, 2010 on VEVO.com and BET’s 106 & Park.
