Willow Smith, 10, is featured in this month’s Vanity Fair. The same issue for which 16-year-old Justin Bieber is on the cover. Because Vanity Fair is officially Tiger Beat magazine inside AND out, now. The child singer/ daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith is featured as part of the promotion for her new song, 21st Century Girl. A literal title, for a song I could only tolerate for seconds. The above is one of the pictures from her spread, as featured on VanityFair.com. Below is a behind-the-scenes video and some interview snippets.
- On the success of Whip My Hair: ‘I like the beat. I like the concept of ‘whip your hair back and forth.’ It was just fun,’ says Willow.
- On how she recently signed with Jay-Z’s record label Roc Nation and is working on an album due to be released in March: ‘It is very cool, because Jay really welcomes me and makes me feel like the record label is a place where I can have fun and talk about my career. He and his people make me feel like I’m a part of something. And I love Beyonce, she’s awesome.’
- On, um, whatever the drunk interviewer asked her: ‘I like eating pepperoni. I heat it up in the microwave and then I let it roast and then I eat it with cheese.’
Willow Smith Vanity Fair feature February 2011: behind-the-scenes of her shoot.

I am in the middle of reading the Justin Beiber article (and HERE is where you have to tell me you still love me) and I am almost starting to not mind the kid.
Point in his favor – he seems to have killed off the Jonas Brothers. Gotta give him credit for that.
I must be getting mushy in my old age. It’s the only explanation. Soft and mushy and toothless. Yep.
*Slaps Kelly around the face*
I did that for your own good, because I love you. That hurt me more than it hurt you.
