The Ugly Betty makeover appears to have been revealed.
These images are from the set of the show; taken as America Ferrera checked her phone during a break from the NYC filming on Tuesday (August 4). According to reports, she was sessified by having the glasses, braces and weave put in detention.
“She looks a lot classier,” one source told EW about Betty’s new look. “But she’s still far from perfect.” Exec producer Silvio Horta added, “There’s going to be a progression in her look overall. It’ll still be Betty, but you’ll see some growth in that direction.” (via Just Jared)

guess America got tied of not being known for how beautiful she is, compared to her frumpy character…diva in training!
That’s why they just took off the braces and combed the weave – they left the fuggers clothes.
don’t these producers know their history? when they make changes like this, fans turn away. better start cleanng out tier offices now!
i guess this is what would happen in real life, you work at place where everyone looks chic so you’re going to start looking like that too.
But this really does defeat the purpose of the show. Just because your clothes are ugly doesn’t mean you’re ugly, she’s pretty hot now at least in that pic.

Hey Sam – your visits are always a LOL-filled joy. She looks as polished as they wanted her to, I guess. I left that as a little surprise… the yellow socks with the shoes made me snort I was laughing so hard.

This phenomenon (it started about 10 years ago in Colombia) has swept the globe.
There have been so many remakes of “Betty La Fea” (its original Spanish title) in so many countries its insane. The latest is Brazil’s version coming in a few months.
Everywhere, the climatic moment is the big reveal, when the butt ugly, goofy, fashion challenged girl transforms into a tramp.
But you know, at its core, it’s still a retelling of Cinderella. There’s a strong desire to watch fairy tales come true. In a sense, there is hope for humanity after all.
Oooh, one of my Twitter followers was telling me about the Filipino version of the show, earlier today. I knew it was in Spain, but had no idea that it had so many other incarnations. People like the idea that the girl with the brain can do good – and not rely on her looks. It’s a nice story to tell.
Yes, but what does it say ultimately?
Plain, unattractive, and smart = BAD! (And no one will shag you!)
Cheeky, flashy tart = GOOD! (And you will need to install a credit card terminal, velvet ropes, and a bouncer in front of your bedroom door.)
It’s a sad but true assesment… the Cinderella story says you get beautified when you want to get ahead. She isn’t going to be allowed to move on in her story unless she waxes those brows.
