As most of you will know, John Travolta’s 16-year-old son, Jett, tragically passed away on Friday, while on a family holiday in the Bahamas [Website – Amy Grindhouse].
I have to be honest, I only mentioned the story as a piece on my ‘Snax‘ links feature and didn’t write a full post. I couldn’t handle reading all the gory details of his death and the fact that no two reports matched was making my head hurt. There were so many conflicting stories about how Jett spent his last few hours, his health and so many other contradictions; the only thing people seem to agree on is the day he died.
Rather than copy and paste half of TMZ’s macabre front page, I’d rather share some words straight from the family, on how they are dealing with the sad passing of their son.
John Travolta and his wife Kelly Preston have released joint statements on their official websites. See below, for what John, 54, Kelly, 46, and their daughter Ella, 8, had to say, via Travolta.com and KellyPreston.com:
“We would like to extend our deepest and most heartfelt thanks to everyone who has sent their love and condolences. Jett was the most wonderful son that two parents could ever ask for and lit up the lives of everyone he encountered.”
“We are heartbroken that our time with him was so brief. We will cherish the time we had with him for the rest of our lives. We have received many messages of condolence from around the world and we want to thank everyone for their prayers and support. It has meant so much to us. It is a beautiful reminder of the inherent goodness in the human spirit that gives us a hope for a brighter future. With love, John, Kelly, and Ella.”
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday. My condolences to the family. R.I.P. Jett Travolta.

It is sad to lose a child – but since I didn’t even know this kid existed, I can’t quite find myself awash in anguish.
[...] Of course the truly worst thing that occurred was the death of John Travolta and Kelly Preston’s 16-year-old son, Jett. Starcasm.net removes the snark for a minute and we send our condolences to the family. It’s truly a sad event when a child dies. [...]
@ Darryl – Hi there welcome to the community and thanks for leaving a comment. I probably would not have either to be entirely fair. The only reason Jett ever got mentioned on news sites is for people making fun of his being named after his fathers plane addiction.
