Gossip Girl is less about the girls on the show and their catty, transient relationships, as the HOT Gossip Guys; the boys on the show are where the money is at and the creators were nothing short of meticulous when selecting the male cast [Website – Amy Grindhouse].
Ed Westwick originally auditioned for the part of preppy golden boy Nate Archibald. The show’s creators, Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage loved him. However, the network, the CW, felt that “he looked more like a serial killer than a romantic lead”.
YES, you read right. The brains behind the show thought my fellow Brit, Westwick, was too serial killery to be the show’s token piece of arse. Nothing wrong with a male protagonist being full of serial killery goodness CW, just look at ‘Dexter’ =)

So just to clarify, “serial killery” is NOT a compliment?
I personally like my guys a little dangerous, so I mean it as a compliment. Those AHoles at the CW, not so much!
Ohh I love Chuck Bass.. But Ed CREEPY!
I think he has his moments of being softer, but any hotness he does have is blown outta the water by his co-stars.
Yes! Chace gets all my love!
Wearing that jacket maybe he might become a serial killer’s victim! It’s freakin’ hideous.
Agreed… hideous!!!
he does look a little psycho there…lol
That’s why I picked the picture =)
