Hold It Against Me Writer Sues for Defamation

The songwriter for Britney Spears’ Hold It Againt Me has fired back at claims the song rips off The Bellamy Brothers’ 1979 If I Said You Had a Beautiful Body Would You Hold It Against Me? I kind of saw this coming, with the amount of press attention the brothers were getting for their song. And the amount of time they spent accusing the songwriters before running it past their lawyers (they were still consulting with lawyers, they said, at the time of going to the press to confirm their intent to sue). In a federal lawsuit filed Wednesday, Lukasz Gottwald, also known as Dr. Luke, one of the co-writers, claimed The Bellamy Brothers engaged in something of a ‘smear campaign’ in a desperate attempt to bring attention to their song. The writer adds, hilariously, the brothers only went bellyaching to the press as ‘a publicity stunt aimed to increase their record sales and to combat their dwindling relevance.’ He wants undisclosed damages for defamation and an order declaring the songs are nothing to do with one another.

Britney Spears V Magazine Photo Shoot Pictures

Britney Spears covers V Magazine #70. The news was released on Twitter by one of its editors. Then, the singer herself posted one image from her spread to go with the inches-square of the covers posted by the magazine. The issue is released tomorrow, March 3. However, the images already feel a little stale because of Spears’ habit of using a drip-drip affect over some days to promote everything, no matter what it is (examples being 13 Hold It Against Me video teasers and the Femme Fatale snippets). The Sun has released pretty much the entire spread so now we’ve seen just about all the images from the photo shoot and in high quality. There are no magazine excerpts I can find yet, but they’ll be so rehearsed/ glib I should imagine they’d not be worth posting (not her fault).

Britney Spears Femme Fatale Album Snippets

For those who like listening to their albums 30-seconds at a time, below are all the officially-released snippets from Femme Fatale. The Britney Spears Sound Cloud account lists all those songs released and the unit below should play them, one after another, in order. The songs in snippets-of-seconds are as follows: Criminal, which was released hours ago and sounds like a reject Nelly Furtado or Shakira track; Seal It With A Kiss, which sounds better suited to her Baby One More Time album; The Big Fat Bass, with Will.I.Am of The Black Eyed Peas, which I skim-read as ‘The Big Fat Ass,’ I’m not kidding, is the only stand-out; How I Roll is interesting, and is probably going to be pretty good; I Wanna Go sounds like European pop music from 1992 (something better placed losing Eurovision); Inside Out, the shortest at only 15 seconds is pretty good though.

Britney Spears Topless for V Magazine Cover

To be clear, I’m talking about the image on the far right, not the far left. The pink cover, of the three covers, shows Britney Spears topless because we all need reminding of the sad-looking breasts that spent the whole of 2006 through 2008 trying to escape from too sizes too small cups. These are some previews of the Britney Spears’ V Magazine covers, about which I told you yesterday. Spears posed for Mario Testino, who, apparently, is not allergic to boob tape adhesive and weave glue. Good to know. There’s a whole lot going on with these three V covers: the first will probably be the one seen on newsstands, the more sultry yellow cover shows Spears fully-clothed and fairly modest; the blue cover in the middle shows Spears… I’m not going to make that joke, I am NOT; the third shows sideboob as if we’ve not seen the entire thing and what I can only assume was a nasty yeast infection in those photos of her exiting a car as though she had literal fire crotch. Not ‘EPIC,’ as V excitedly proclaimed. But certainly very cute.

Britney Spears Covers V Magazine’s Next Issue

Britney Spears covers the March 2011 issue of V. I don’t really get how this would be a ‘March issue’, per se, as the magazine doesn’t really release every month; more for seasons. So it’s more likely for Spring/Summer, or something, I guess. Moreover, actual ‘March 2011′ covers were released beginning the last week of January. Whatever. According to writer/ editor Derek Blasberg, Spears’ recent Mario Testino shoot was for ‘@Vmagazine’s March issue.’ I guess the same person who was on hand to sew in her weave strands between takes for the Hold It Against Me music video was called in for this shoot. The last shoot I paid attention to was the Nicki Minaj V cover, and that was pretty striking and much talked about. I’m going to assume that as long as the glued tracks hold out, this will be too. From what I gather, Britney Spears’ V cover will be out on March 3.

Katy Perry Didn’t Slam HIAM Product Placement

Katy Perry may want to cool off using her Twitter account. To give those Twitter fap ™ friction burns time to heal. And, not because she has an extremely loose grasp of how Twitter works when you have 5.9 million followers. A recent comment of Perry’s that created drama appeared to have been aimed at Britney Spears’ Hold It Against Me music video. Spears’ video contained more shilling than dancing, to the surprise of no one. Moreover, as shown in these stills, it was less than subtle and distracted from a video already lacking in a lot of areas. Days after the release, Perry went on Twitter to spout the following: ‘Do [product placement] w/style & grace…Not so in ur face like some. U hv to get creative w/it. Some artists don’t care tho, & u can tell.’ She then seems to wonder, with the timing, as she did when she seemed to slam Lady Gaga, why people assume she’s mocking other artists. At least make fun weeks/ months after. Not days after their video. Anyhow, she’s mad as heck and writing another series of messages, above, to the ‘tabloid media aka FILTH.’ In a roundabout way, Perry denies slamming placements. I’m going to guess (it’s only a guess) it’s because her next video’s full of the stuff and she doesn’t want to get called out for it.
