Scarlett Johansson gave a couple of whiny interviews this weekend. The first where she bemoaned the role of sexy, pretty ingenue because she’s the spinstery age of 27 and therefore too old to play a convincing seductress. She was interviewed by USA Today and asked her feelings on her media image. She had one complaint, her name. More specifically, the portmanteau of her first and surname. Asked about the ‘ScarJo’ moniker, she replied: ‘It’s a laziness. People can’t actually say the whole name? It’s just bizarre…. like, ‘DaDay’? So Cate Blanchett is not, like, ‘CaBla’? Why is that? Why do I have to get stuck? If I hear somebody say that, I know I don’t know them at all.’ So, indirectly comparing her star to those of CaBla and DaDay, Johansson also indirectly threatens your life if you ever shorten her name. Which is the point, she has a LONG-A$$ name. That’s why it’s shortened to something cutesy. And it’s easier to spell. Meh. There are a few more pretentious gems in her interview that I tucked below.

Scarlett Johansson Is Tired Of Seducing You
Scarlett Johansson, 27, has already tired of playing the ingénue. Which basically means she’s tired of easy money and roles that contractually-require biscuit. Moreover, she’s tired of trying to seduce you, since that’s boring too. Which would be why she’s jumping around in skintight leather as Black Widow in The Avengers and will wear something tighter still in her own spin-off. Maybe. Asked in a recent interview with NY Mag, Johansson said she’s hoping for more gritty roles. Which means spinstery roles, in Hollywood. ‘I think that as I get older, I’m now looking at roles that move away from that kind of ingénue mold and are more based on women that are experienced and have had life before the point you find them in,’ she said. ‘That’s refreshing for me. It’s nice to be able to kind of transition into that. I feel like for me, right now, I don’t wanna take on any roles that aren’t challenging in some way. I never wanna play something I’ve done before. I wanna be able to just have everything be hard in some way. Otherwise, what’s the point?’ Johansson was asked asked the same question again by USA Today, to which she replied: ‘The roles that are really available for young women most of the time are the ingénue, the other woman, the girlfriend of someone, and as I’ve gotten older, it’s nice to be able to move into territory where the characters that I’m playing and looking at are women who are established. It’s nice to be kind of transitioning into that phase of my career.’
Charlize Theron Worries About Your Hello Kitty
Charlize Theron has impossibly-high standards in what she expects from other women; namely, if you love Hello Kitty, you can’t love her too. She’d hate my a$$, I’m chronically-immature and easily-amused by things from my youth. In which case, Theron would have me spanked with a Hello Kitty paddle until I conceded to only watching reruns of Hey Arnold! or Foster’s Home For Imaginary Friends. Or something. I dunno, I started skim-reading when she started judging me for my tastes in imaginary kittens: ‘I’m pretty amazed by Hello Kitty,’ said Theron, 36, promoting Young Adult in New York City today. ‘I see so many women in their 30s walking around in Hello Kitty sh-t and nobody is concerned for them. It’s the one iconic teenage symbol that seems okay for women in their 30s? The world seems to not have an issue with it.’ Photos of Theron in a black and white Stella McCartney Spring 2012 dress at the Young Adult movie premiere in Los Angeles December 15, and Theron posing for paps at Mr Chows Dec. 14.

Rooney Mara Talks About Her TGWTDT Merkin
Rooney Mara has slipped into GOOP 2.0 territory. She already got a ‘Sit DOWN Rooney Mara,’ from LaineyGossip.com and a try-hard/ side-eye from Celebitchy, Jezebel and a few others. Basically, she’s being retro-GOOP insufferable. I don’t think she means to be. She’s from an insanely-wealthy family and perhaps she’s blind to how pretentious and ungrateful she sounds doing things like calling herself ‘aloof,’ and biting the hand that feeds her. Well, she’s slightly less-annoying in this interview talking about the painstaking detail matching her portrayal of Lisbeth Salander to the character from The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo books: ‘There was a lot of discussion that went into my merkin for the movie, because I was naked quite a lot. And I don’t think a lot of people will notice all of the attention that went into that. But there was a lot of discussions around that … In the book she’s meant to have strawberry-blonde hair originally and she dyes it, so we had a special merkin made that was, you know, strawberry-blonde so that it would fit.’ Five photos and two short clips of Mara at The Late Show With David Letterman in NYC, December 15, are below.
Elle Fanning Should Borrow A Bigger Size Shoe
Here’s Elle Fanning at the NYC premiere of We Bought A Zoo in which she co-stars with Scarlett Johansson and Matt Damon. I’m going to take a wild stab in the dark that she borrowed the shoes but didn’t get to try them on beforehand. The dress is more of the same. Aside from the rigid butt-shelf at the back, the dress isn’t horrible. And structured white seems to be today’s trend. However, Fanning’s feet are changing colour and her shoes look at least a size too small.
Scarlett Johansson We Bought A Zoo Premiere
Scarlett Johansson and Matt Damon attended the New York City premiere of We Bought A Zoo December 12. Somehow, this is a movie that’s all but managed to pass me by. I’m not even kidding, I was like ‘Huh? What’s this?’ It’s a good thing they have breasts at these premieres or no one would see these darn films. Well, here’s Johansson in a somewhat midriff-bearing dress and sensible up-do. I don’t like the hair, but I’m probably biased since I know it’s the same style as when she visited The Late Show With David Letterman earlier that night (photos of Johansson in a black coat and white heels are from the NYC Letterman studio).
