Anne Hathaway will probably win an Academy of Try Award for trying for 10 minutes in the Les Miserables role that nearly went to Scarlet Johansson. Clearly wanting the award more than she wants to take her next breath, but still pretending to be over it, Hathaway tells People.com, ‘Whatever happens in two weeks, happens. It won’t be the worst thing that happens to me if I don’t win, and with my husband by my side it won’t be the best thing either. So I am feeling very good about whatever.’ But what nearly happened was Scarlett Johansson’s breasts making the Les Mis Oscar campaign tolerable in a manner Hathaway’s biscuit could not. Johansson tells Broadway.com, she auditioned for the role that went to Hathawa, ‘I sang my little heart out.’ She says she wasn’t nervous at all in the audition, ‘No, are you kidding? The jazz hands kid inside me was just over the moon!’ But she didn’t get the role, ‘I auditioned with laryngitis,’ she explained. ‘I did everything I could to, like, not have laryngitis. [But] I think, looking at the film now, there’s no possible way I ever could have topped that performance,’ she admitted. ’It was perfect and I think fateful and meant to be.’

Sofia Vergara was originally chosen to pee on Zac Efron in The Paperboy. Although, Vergara says, she’s glad she walked away because her buyer’s remorse about the scene would have been captured on film forever. Vergara was cast in the role that eventually went to Nicole Kidman and involved a jellyfish sting scene with Efron. The director filmed the scene with Kidman, but then panicked and threatened to scrub it from the movie. Only to have Kidman order the director to keep it in. Vergara says she would have regretted doing the scene at all. ‘It was a fun role [but] I was so glad that I didn’t have to pee in anyone’s face, though. I was glad it was not me,’ said Vergara. ‘For [Kidman], that’s nothing. For me, it would have been three weeks of stress. ‘How am I going to pee in there?”
Last year, Dakota Fanning celebrated turning 18 by immediately undressing in front of the sound guy and the lighting guys and a dozen other people on a cold sound stage. Not that it’s particularly shocking since she filmed a rape scene when she was 12, but Fanning says filming a scene in which she loses her virginity is, like, whatever, because everybody has n00d time when they’re alone. She tells MTV News about 2013′s coming-of-age drama Very Good Girls: ‘Yeah, well, I’ve never done that before and I’m very newly allowed to do that. I was newly 18, so yeah, it was, it’s kind of a sensitive thing, but it’s a part of life.’ 40 photos below including dozens from the Very Good Girls set in NYC.

James Franco is one of the stars of the Spider-Man movies that came out 11 years ago and have been re-imagined from scratch already because money doesn’t print itself. And although Franco’s basically spent the interim decade going crazy and Lohansplaining/ Francosplaining his brain on drugs, he used true words to describe the reboot that only exists so the studio doesn’t lose the rights. ‘I mean, they could have strayed a little bit more from the original,’ he said. ‘It was like, ‘Why?’ I guess they made a lot of money. Congrats. Good for them. Sam and I moved on. We made Oz.’
The producer of Scary Movie But Starring People With Careers, Movie 43′s Peter Farrelly, held a question and answer session on Reddit.com yesterday. I’ll get right to it because there are breasts involved which leaves no time to explain… someone asked: ‘Which actor/actress surprised you the most on Movie 43 and why?’ To which Farrelly basically replied: ‘Halle Berry and her sweet rack.’ He explained: ‘I would have to say Halle Berry. I was a little nervous about meeting her because her scene is so outrageous and I was afraid she might get on the set and balk. Not only did she not, but she thought the scene was too soft, and asked us to amp it up a little. We ended up coming up with a couple of things for her to do that weren’t scripted, but were insane. To give you an example the short is about a couple (her and Stephen Merchant) who play Truth or Dare on a first date. Among other things she ended up sticking her bare breast into a bowl of guacamole. She couldn’t have been more fun to work with.’ In related news, Farrelly openly admits to bullying the actors into becoming part of the cast all.
Shortly before he left to be with his co-star in a movie that required non-simulated sex, Shia LaBeouf submitted sex tapes with his girlfriend and photos of himself naked to director Lars von Trier to win a role in Nymphomaniac. And then he started having sex with co-star Mia Goth in real life because his penis demands verisimilitude at all times. And now he’s promoting Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman in which he apparently trips balls realistically because he practiced a bunch with real drugs, filmed himself, and had co-star Evan Rachel Wood give him notes. Really. Talking about acid, which he’d ‘never done before,’ the 26-year-old explains: ‘I remember sending Evan tapes. I remember trying to conjure this and sending tapes and Evan being like, ‘Yeah, that’s good, but that’s not, but this is, but that ain’t.’ [It's] not like she’s the expert on set. I’m just saying you reach out to friends and you sort of gauge where you’re at. So I was sending tapes around. I’d get fifty percents from people, and that starts creeping me out, and I got really nervous. Towards the end, I was like… That’s what propels things like that. Being nervous that you’re not going to get it right or it’s not going to be honest. You subject yourself to things and you can’t choose your thoughts. You can’t choose your feelings. But you can really influence them, and I just try to influence myself as much as possible.’
