Here’s Amanda Seyfried in the role of Linda Lovelace for Lovelace, not to be confused with Inferno which is a tandem biopic about the same person in a project nearly tanked by Lindsay Lohan’s crack hijinks back in 2009. Here’s the first poster for Lovelace, with Seyfried trying too hard to look sexy; the arched back, hands on hips, the lips slightly ajar, the willing jiggle. Pretty, not sexy.
Here’s Scarlett Johansson receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for years of reluctant jiggles and the butt shot at the start of Lost in Translation (pause, zoom, CSI enhance). Because these things are paid for by the star, if memory serves, and they’re usually just a glorified shill for whatever they’re promoting at the time, Johansson was presented in the company of The Avengers co-star Jeremy Renner who was thanked with a little cheek spit. I actually saw this trailer about an hour after it was released, yesterday morning, then I forgot about it. But I figure enough of you haven’t seen it yet that it’s still worth posting. Moreover, I’m curious, is anyone else having mixed feeling about the film: shooting the movie in the street while we’re flooded with spoiler photos, trailers that also give too much away, diminishing returns with each trailer, weak sauce Catwoman? Don’t know if want. And this trailer is MEH.
Scarlett Johansson has been complaining for some time about being pigeonholed as the ingenue with a cutesy nickname. I remember scattered quotes, the past year, whining about how giant breasts are only half as awesome as you’d think because reluctant jiggles will typecast you for life. Which is why we’re being told she is naked under her Black Widow catsuit and other details we didn’t ask her for. She tells the UK’s Independent newspaper: ‘I never wanted to be a sex symbol… women that are curvy can be pigeonholed in that bombshell thing.’
The Avengers has earned $178.4 million prior to its North American opening, due to an early international release. Which is interesting if only because it opened here (the UK) April 11 without my noticing and I could have been watching Scarlett Johannsson’s reluctant jiggle in 3D rather than trawling for bootlegs this weekend. The movie will open in the US May 4, at which point it’ll have been out in some territories for nearly one month. The North American opening will likely trounce The Hunger Games’ caveat-laden $68.3 million domestic record.
Jason Segel has been all over my feeds, with you guys love-vomming about him and Michelle Williams. And whatever you guys had, I caught; because I started love-vomming too. It’s not like me, but they’re super cute together. But now I’m reminded why I didn’t buy into their relationship at first. With Segel dragging his flaws all around the promotional trail for The Five-Year Engagement, which he co-wrote and in which he stars. Segel appeared on the Today Show, Wednesday, where he announced that girlfriends have burst out laughing when he disrobed: ‘In my personal life… If I take my clothes off it’s met with hysterical laughter, for some reason.’ Similarly, earlier in the week, Segal appeared on the Late Show With David Letterman where the actor revealed the studio president told him to lose 35 pounds from his 6 foot 4 inch frame for his on-screen relationship with Emily Blunt to be believable: ‘I was forced to lose weight for this movie. It was by the studio president! I was told it had to be conceivable that Emily Blunt would ever choose me to be her husband, which I think is fair enough. I had to lose… 35lbs. I didn’t enjoy it but they sent a trainer. I had to work out twice a day.’
