Charlize Theron covers InStyle June 2012 because Kristen Stewart can only curse through so many interviews at one time. Theron is gushing about her baby boy in the interview some more because he’s the real crux of this promotional trail.
I’d forgotten about Elizabeth Banks, since I guess she wasn’t on my radar at all before The Hunger Games and now that’s old news. But she’s in What To Expect When You’re Expecting too. So here’s the only piece of promo I’ve really seen from her on a promotional trail that’s relied on nulliparous Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Lopez’s relationship with The Choreographer. I’m MEH about Banks and I’m not in love with a shoot where it looks like she’s got Novacane mouth.
Jessica Alba covers the June 2012 issue of Marie Claire for which she gives an interview about spending the first half of her career in a bikini. The 31-year-old says she spent a lot of her career being ‘objectified’ which made her ‘uncomfortable.’ Which is ‘bulls**t,’ because no one forced her to take those roles and she had on her big girl panties, at 19, in Dark Angel, so she knew the score. In any case, her interview, shoot, and behind-the-scenes video are below.
Tom Cruise covers W Magazine June 2012, for which there’s now an extensive photo shoot although the interview snippets are meager. The 49-year-old tells the magazine of his role in Rock Of Ages: ‘I knew we had to push the sexuality because of the nature of the character and the songs.’ Explaining why he chose a musical, he continues: ’Kate loves musicals. She sings and dances, and we kind of went through the history of musicals together. And Suri loved Hairspray. With kids, you watch everything over and over; I watched Hairspray 15 times with Suri.’ He says his love of music started years ago: ‘You know what? I did the scene from Risky Business around the house. I would sing… and I’d turn the music up. I learned how to dance watching Soul Train. I noticed that if a guy could dance, he’d get a lot of attention and girls would want to dance with him. I worked very hard at imitating those moves.’ And that’s about it, because W spent more time waxing and man-scaping than it did interviewing the actor. But Playboy picked up the slack with its own interview. Not counting the facials or other non-surgical procedures from before John Travolta scared off the help, Cruise tells Playboy he never has and ‘never would’ tweak the face Xenu gave him. Kristen Stewart covers American Elle June 2012 (in addition to her Elle UK cover the same month with a completely different interview and photo shoot). This is another piece of promotion for Snow White & The Huntsman which will drown out the death rattle of Mirror Mirror unless the former is literally 127 minutes of Stewart grinding her teeth and biting her lip while exhaling.
