Nicki Minaj Throws M.I.A. Under The Bus Too

Forgetting that Madonna flips people off and swears during every performance, everyone is taking it in turns to vilify M.I.A. for the Super Bowl middle finger. Madonna even phoned in to On Air With Ryan Seacrest to bemoan how ‘Irrelevent, negative, and teenage’ it was for M.I.A. to pull focus by flipping off 111.3 million people during the show broadcast with negligible delay to prevent such things from happening. And now Nicki Minaj has done the same while pretending she doesn’t bring dildos on stage at her own concerts: ’My first feeling was disappointment, only because of my respect for Madonna,’ said the rapper. ‘I’m a coocoo lady too, but I’d never be able to do it off the strength of Madonna. I just hope they don’t penalize Madonna… Madonna knows the artist that MIA is, and it was Madonna’s decision to take that risk with all of us. [Madonna has] done some crazy things becoming the icon that she is so that’s why she was able to forgive MIA. I love MIA. But me personally I wouldn’t do it off respect of Madonna, because I wouldn’t want any backlash on her.’

Five photos of Minaj wearing one of her three wigs in Beverly Hills this weekend.

M.I.A. May Have To Pay Fine For Middle Finger

I have mostly ignored everything except the Super Bowl fallout because I’m in England and, honestly, no one here really cares. I watched Madonna’s half-time show online a few hours after it aired. If only because I was nervous about her hips and the risk of her slipping over in those heels. It was shaky there, for a time, right? All that thrusting and the wobbling somewhere in the middle (I added the video below, even though it’s hard to see through the smoke and mirrors). Anyhoo, no one really talking about Madonna’s performance because a featured vocalist flipped the bird and over-shadowed the whole thing. It was a tacky, basic move. But it worked, evidently. Because everyone except me jumped on it. I would have just ignored it, honestly, except I’m tickled by this update: TMZ.com claims that, contractually, were NBC fined, M.I.A. herself would have to pay for the offending middle finger. Yep, tickled. The last fines (which were later dropped) were for the Janet Jackson slip for which the FCC fined CBS $550,000.

Madonna Thought This Outfit Was A Great Idea

Here’s an outfit Madonna wore on purpose to the Weinstein Company with The Cinema Society & Forevermark premiere of W.E., held at the Ziegfeld Theater NYC January 23. I don’t know if the cape and fingerless gloves from the previous outfit have mutated, but anecdotal evidence leads me to believe… YES!!!

Madonna Passive-Aggressively Mocks Lady Gaga

Madonna remains the queen of ice-cold passive-aggression, in the most significant act of chiding since the hydrangea incident. Remember, Madonna reamed some poor dude out for daring to be polite and bring her flowers? After which time she declared flower genocide and mocked the incident once more in that weird apology video where she missed the point that an actual human’s feelings may have been hurt. Well, it kind of happened again except during a sit down interview with Cynthia McFadden. Earlier this week, during a Newsweek interview, Madonna mocked Gaga ripping-off Express Yourself with Born This Way: ‘I thought, this is a wonderful way to redo my song. I mean, I recognized the chord changes. I thought it was… interesting.’ Asked by McFadden what she thought of Gaga’s ‘borrowing,’ Madonna gave the below response. That, basically, Gaga is a basic copy pasta who ‘borrows’ too often. ‘I certainly think she references me a lot in her work. Sometimes I think it’s amusing and flattering and well-done,’ she said. ‘[Other times] it feels reductive. Look it up.’

Madonna W.E.Premiere: Lace Cape, Red Gloves

Madonna premiered W.E. in London this afternoon, following its TIFF and NYC screenings. The film feels old already, since it’s been such a long time coming. But it’s only just getting a real premiere now. Okay, the outfit. I’m going to assume this is supposed to be an invisibility cape, because Madonna is ashamed of her work. Is this the Emperor’s New Clothes? Since the cape’s faulty, let’s comment. Madonna’s wearing what appears to be a Jean Paul Gaultier velvet (?) dress with red fingerless gloves and a Dolce & Gabbana lace cape. Lace. Cape. Is that a thing now? And she wore gloves to cover her ‘roid veins because the ageing on her hands is worsening. That has to be why. I don’t know why else you’d go for such fruity accoutrements. Eight photos from the W.E. premiere.

Madonna Attends W.E.’s New York Screening

Madonna is still trying to make W.E. happen. W.E. was the movie she promoted with screenings at the Toronto International Film Festival, during which time she hurt the feelings of flowers and special snowflakes everywhere. So, here are eight photos of Madonna’s 7.0 face and ‘This’ll do,’ black-on-black Roberto Cavalli at another screening, hosted by The Cinema Society, The Weinstein Company, and Piaget, held at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC December 4.
