Lindsay Lohan somehow landed the role in Lifetime’s Liz & Dick playing Elizabeth Taylor. About which everyone is really excited, despite this being a rather reductive backpedal during which a former box office lead stops for a smoke before she’s relegated to cameos in cable commercials. This whole thing is going to be a crack mess of lateness (Glee), forgotten lines (SNL), and dramatic moments recreated by Uncle Terry with even worse lighting. And the process is cheapened still because Lohan’s clearly getting some say in whom she’s cast against. According to reports, Lohan is ‘unhappy’ with the dudes in line to star as Richard Burton; Matthew Settle, Sean Maguire, and Craig Robert Young. The biopic, which has been in pre-production for a while and will begin taping within weeks, still has not settled on a male lead. A production source opines as to why: ‘Lindsay declared that none of the actors were the right fit and that she wanted to go to London to look for a possible Burton actor there. Lindsay is being an absolute nightmare about who should play Burton… She wants a major A-list star to be her co-star. However, her salary for the role took up a major portion of the budget, and the Burton gig will likely only pay $200k, max. The producers don’t need to get Lindsay’s approval of who will play Richard Burton, but they want to keep her happy… There just isn’t any money in the budget, or time, to [cast in London]. The producers will try to land someone that Lindsay likes, but, if push comes to shove, they will just cast the role without her approval… They are already in pre-production and it’s very hard to conduct any rehearsals without the pivotal role of Richard Burton. There is also cause for concern because Lindsay partied all night last week with Paris Hilton, Barron Hilton and Brandon Davis…  Lindsay shouldn’t be out partying all night long, no good can come of that.’

Dina Lohan has taken it upon herself to become her daughter’s cheerleader, which I take to mean Lindsay Lohan won’t be doing any actual promotion for her role in Lifetime’s Liz & Dick biopic; instead phoning it in and being late, like she was for Glee and the promotion of her Playboy issue (tasked with only one interview with Ellen DeGeneres to promote Playboy, the actress missed her flight and missed the interview). In a new interview with Access Hollywood Live, the 49-year-old matriarch told the hosts she couldn’t be more proud of her daughter because, if you really think about it, her kid and Liz Taylor were totes the same person: ‘There’s so many similarities, the tabloids, they attacked [Liz] as well. [Lindsay's] really learned a lot, she’s grown up a lot. This town is tough. Lindsay is 25, so it’s for her to talk about her demise, or whatever was going on at the time. I felt as a mother, yes, I’m going to protect my children publicly, privately, I kick their butts. I’m a single mom, of course I do!’ Asked whether her daughter will bother to prepare or just sit around in the break room eating bon bons like she did at Glee, her momager replied: ‘[She’s] very prepared, she’s very excited. She’s so excited to do this and it’s such an honor to play Liz Taylor.’ And asked ‘So, WTF with the Woody Allen dinner?’ she added: ‘He has her back, which not many people have. It was a normal business meeting and friendship.’

I literally let out an exasperated sigh writing this title, because my time reporting crack-hijinks would be better spent writing crack MadLibs or crack boilerplates to the effect of ‘Lindsay Lohan arrived late to [blank]. But not before running over [blank] with her car, only to lie about her whereabouts the following day.’

Yesterday, a pro-Lohan source told TMZ.com that Lindsay Lohan arriving three hours late to Glee didn’t disrupt production. However, today, a different source told E! Online that Lohan was a distracted, unprofessional mess who deigned to do her job. The E! source claimed Lohan was ‘terribly late,’ so production sent a car to the Chateau Marmont hotel to pick up the actress and bring her to set. The source explains: ‘Lindsay was a total nightmare yesterday. She was three hours late in the morning, and when she did finally arrive, she just didn’t want to be there. She did not want to work. She had not memorized her lines, and she kept disappearing so no one could find her.’ Dubbing Lohan ‘That girl,’ a second E! source says: ‘She has rubbed [cast and crew] up the wrong way by being so disrespectful of everyone else’s schedule.’ But Lohan’s rep, Steve Honig, basically blames producers for not tattooing the call time on Lohan’s forearms like in Memento. The lateness was a misunderstanding. ‘The production team came to us and said that they wanted to start [with Lindsay] right after lunch, which was at 2,’ Honig told E! ‘They wanted to begin with Lindsay at 3, so that meant she had a lot of time where she wasn’t doing anything. That’s why people didn’t see her. She was then in hair and makeup and began after lunch at 3. If there was a problem yesterday, I would have just said ‘no comment,’ however I can’t ignore this because this is utter B.S. This is a classic example of people trying to bash Lindsay. She busted her ass yesterday and is on set again today.’

Lindsay Lohan and her father have reacted to the technically-correct observations of Rosie O’Donell on The Today Show, that the 25-year-old lacks the focus and wherewithal to successfully portray Elizabeth Taylor in Lifetime’s Liz & Dick.

Responding to Donny Deutsch saying: ‘[Lindsay is] our generation’s Elizabeth Taylor!’ O’Donnell said: ‘You’re out of your mind! You’re a crackhead! The last thing she did good she was sixteen…  I think she’s not in a place to work. I don’t think she’s right for the role and I don’t think she’s capable at this point to portray that character.’ To which the actress replied to RumorFix.com: ‘I think Rosie should focus on her own career and stop worrying about everybody else.’

Lohan’s father emailed the same site: ‘From what I remember, the Bible says for he/she who is without sin, let them cast the first stone and judge not lest you be judged. With that being said, is Rosie in ANY position to judge anyone? Failed marriage, two failed shows, slamming other celebs and high profile people. PLEASE! [Lindsay and I] had our issues in life [but we're] turning things around. I was and am the first one to point out my own faults, Lindsay and even others when we are wrong, but when we are not, I will fight tooth and nail for what’s right! In this case, Rosie, you are wrong. So why don’t you and all in agreement with you, just sit back shut up and see if Lindsay proves herself before blabbing your unwarranted opinion.’ Michael Lohan also told TMZ.com: ‘Who the hell is Rosie O’Donnell to judge anyone, especially Lindsay, who has far more talent than Rosie ever had? Lindsay’s talent isn’t limited to being a comedian or getting notoriety for adopting and raising a bunch of kids. Sure, [Lindsay] has her pitfalls, but she is 25, and how old is Rosie? Two failed talk shows, a failed marriage, etc … He/she who is without sin. May they cast the first stone.’
