Amber Portwood’s $280,000-a-Year MTV Salary

Amber Portwood earned that thick dollar for beating her ex-fiance and neglecting her child. Awesome. Portwood was released from jail, yesterday, on a $5,000 bond, after being charged on two felony counts and a misdemeanor. It is being reported, by Hollywood Life (who’re like Radar Online but with a more garish background colour… so take anything they say with a pinch of salt), that Portwood was forced to reveal her MTV salary to a judge. After her release, the 20-year-old appeared before Madison County magistrate Steven Clase using a video feed. She declared her occupation as ‘television personality’. When asked to reveal MTV’s yearly pay, her lawyer Kathleen Sweeney objected. Portwood was ordered to reveal her salary of $280,000. Not pennies or chips, like, dollars.

Nicole Richie’s DUI Probation Ends Months Early

Nicole Richie’s probation has been terminated months early. I would suspect that Richie were getting celebrity justice and not held to account, in the same manner as the Lindsay Lohans/ Charlie Sheens of the world, had I not seen umpteen pictures of her at her alcohol education classes for the better part of the year. She’d do things like attend wearing the same outfits every day, throwing off the press and making pictures of herself less valuable, which goes some way to showing she was there to complete the court-ordered classes rather than mug for the cameras. On the morning of Wednesday 29, Richie’s probation came to an abrupt end when her lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, ‘presented the judge with proof Nicole had completed all the terms of probation, including a glowing report from the alcohol ed program in which she’s been enrolled for the last 18 months.’

Her probation began in 2006 after a DUI for driving the wrong way on an LA freeway. ‘Probation was scheduled to end in February, but since all the terms have been satisfied the judge agreed to terminate it early,’ reports TMZ.

Teen Mom Amber Portwood Released from Jail

Now that her obligatory/ standard 24-hour hold period has expired Teen Mom Amber Portwood has been released from jail. Portwood was sent to the Madison County jail in Anderson, Ind., for slapping and choking her ex-fiancé, Gary Shirley. Her lawyer posted the ordered $5,000 bail, but her stay was still a requirement. She has been charged by the Madison County Prosecutor’s Office on all counts filed against her in Indiana; two felony counts of domestic battery, one felony count of neglect of a dependent, and one misdemeanor count of domestic battery. The court automatically entered a not guilty plea for Portwood before she was released, according to her lawyer. Portwood told Hollywood Life there was no way anyone would be able to prove the abuse happened in front of her two-year-old; though, she also denied that there were any charges to begin with.

Amber Portwood Battery Arrest and Mug Shot

Amber Portwood has been arrested for being an abusive lunatic in front of witnesses. Those witnesses being her own two-year-old daughter, Leah, part of what made today’s charges a felony, and in front of MTV’s Teen Mom cameras.  If you’re going to break the law and repeatedly beat someone, make sure it’s not in front of an internationally-syndicated audience. It’s like drug-dealing on camera. Who does that? Portwood has been under investigation for the scenes in Teen Mom where she was seen slapping, punching and chocking former-fiance Gary Shirley, three separate times between August 2009 and July 2010. Today, Portwood has been charged and arrested in connection with the case as prosecutors decided to move ahead. She has been charged by the Madison County Prosecutor’s Office on all counts filed against her in Indiana; two felony counts of domestic battery, one felony count of neglect of a dependent, and one misdemeanor count of domestic battery. She is currently in jail and took the mug shot above during her 4:21 a.m EST booking; according to her booking sheet, the 20-year-old is 5’3″, 138 lbs. She’s on a 24-hour hold, which is standard practice for domestic battery, ‘even if someone pays your bond.’ She’s not currently convicted, but faces three years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines if convicted on all charges. Which looks increasingly likely. Bail has been set at $5,000.

Teresa Giudice’s Belongings are Worth $51,160

Real Housewives of New Jersey’s Teresa Giudice is worthless. But, then the person on Twitter who’s actually tweeting under the impostor account of @BROKEHO_TERESA already knows that (yes, that’s an actual parody account I found by accident). According to Radar Online, who cite bankruptcy papers filed in court, Giudice’s possessions are set to be auctioned off later this month despite her legal protests. And despite her insistence that the media were lying about the auction and that it would never take place. There’s reportedly no chance she’ll cover her $11 million dept; racked up by spending on items such as these, in the world’s gaudiest house. It’s alleged that her possessions were itemised and found to be worth just $51,160. In total. That included the couple’s wedding rings that were valued at $120 each. That’s not even enough to cover a replacement suit of armour. Those things don’t buy themselves, you know.

Audio of Fantasia Barrino Admitting Abortion

It was revealed this week that Fantasia Barrino recently had an abortion; a confession coerced by a lawyer, during the divorce proceeding of her married lover, Antwaun Cook, from his ex-wife, Paula. The report from Radar Online detailed Barrino’s admission, and how it came to light in a North Carolina court on Monday. I didn’t feel comfortable covering the initial story, based on audio I’d not heard myself/ transcripts I’d not read myself (the underlying themes of classism/ racism/the right to choose also made me uncomfortable). So, I put the story to one side. However, there is now audio of Barrino’s admission. Which makes the story 1) true, where before I doubted its validity to some extent 2) it’s now more compelling. Radar Online has the audio as well as a full transcript; noting that there were no reporters in the Mecklenburg County courtroom, witnesses were asked to leave as Barrino took the stand, and the audio is inaudible in places. Barrino can be heard testifying, at 2:20 into their clip, that she had the procedure around the time of her failed suicide attempt this past August; a suicide attempt prompted more by the reading of a court complaint filed by Cook’s ex-wife that painted Barrino as a homewrecker. Barrino has to be asked multiple times and claims that she’s not sure of the date of the termination (how is that even possible?). We hear Barrino read and discuss a love letter to Cook about wanting to have his baby. Then comes the confession… ‘Ms Barrino, isn’t it true that you told Mr. Cook that you had aborted his child?’ the lawyer asks. ‘When I wrote this letter I was speaking in future references. Like, one day, I would love to be all of these things that I wrote. I was not pregnant with his child,’ Barrino responds. ‘But did you tell Mr. Cook you aborted his child?’ they ask again. ‘I did, yeah,’ she responds blithely. ‘When did you tell Mr. Cook you had aborted his child?’ they probe. ‘I’m not sure,’ Barrino insists. Stating the same when asked around four further times using different wording. Finally confessing that it was ‘Probably August when the other stuff happened.’
