First, I am usually semi-comatose, after getting home from work and then trying to spend 5-hours-per-day on this site. So comatose and dazed am I, that it is pretty unlikely that I will notice any one else’s typos.

The clip is really great, as it is the kind of surprise that one so rarely finds on UK reality TV. The mocking of her at the very beginning of her audition only serves to drive home the point that you cannot judge a book by its cover, nor can you write off a vocalist over something as immaterial as age.

I am disturbed to hear that someone was recklessly engaging in time-travel and without asking, pulling thoughts out of your head. I shall hurriedly ask them to return the above, forthwith.

Should Susan progress, there will probably be an amazing “Tada” moment, when they redo her. But, at least we can prepare ourselves for the tedium of that eventuality.

Of course I’ve heard *OF* Les Mis, but I’ve never seen it, listened to the music, or read the book. Not much into opera, so I bought the book.

(And this comment might come through twice, but I’m horrified by the fact that I said I’d never heard *of* Les Mis and don’t want the internet to think I’m that clueless, so I’ll risk it.)

I had JUST gotten immune enough to it that I stopped bawling every time she hit that series of notes midway through, when I noticed that the YouTube entry I was looking at had the lyrics. I read the lyrics, and I had to start all over:
“I had a dream my life would be
So different from this hell I’m living”

(I don’t know who wrote that song, but there must have been time-travel involved because they pulled those lyrics right out of my head this week.)

I even ordered a copy of Les Mis last night because I am uncultured like that and had never heard of it.

I was sad that Piers and Amanda had to put so much criticism into their compliments – “Everyone was laughing at you,” “what a complete surprise,” “everybody was against you” – Jesus! I hope no one ever compliments me like that: “Hey, I expected you to look like a f*cking HAG, but you actually look pretty good!” Uh, … thanks?

I do concur, reluctantly, with the eyebrows, because once you get your breath back from her first few notes they are a bit distracting. Other than that, I for one hope she does NOT get “remade.” I hope that the world would simply be willing to say, “Hey, wow! People don’t have to be stick-thin, 20 years old, and surgically enhanced to be talented, beautiful, amazing individuals who are worthy of respect and admiration.”

*sigh* I’ll just keep on dreaming…

She needs to save up all her coins and get a few things, um, fixed, but all I care about is talent. And yes, she has it!
