StaplesCenter.com Jackson Funeral Tickets

The link to register for free Staples Center memorial Michael Jackson tickets has just gone live. (I updated the previous post on this, but wanted make it all a little clearer for those looking to attend).

The link has just been released for those who would like to register to attend and pay their respects. StaplesCenter.com/Memorial will have the Staples Center Memorial Michael Jackson Tickets. The StaplesCenter.com registration is open immediately.

“The Michael Jackson Public Memorial Service will take place on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at STAPLES Center in downtown Los Angeles, California and simulcast inside to Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE across the street. A limited number of free tickets to both venues will be made available for Michael Jackson’s fans to attend.”

“Due to the expected overwhelming demand, the following procedures have been set to accommodate registration for the tickets. Please note that by registering for tickets to attend the Public Memorial Service, it does NOT guarantee the registrant tickets.”

The Lottery for tickets starts right now, 10 am PST Friday (July 3), and ends tomorrow, 6 pm PST Saturday (July 4). There is a limit on how many tickets you can be allocated.

“Only one entry per individual will be accepted. Registering to attend the Public Memorial Service is NOT a guarantee of tickets. Two tickets will be issued to each randomly selected attendee. Offer valid to residents of the United States only.”

For those of you attending, see also a map and directions to the Staples Center.

a lottery for free tickets to a funeral? can these people sink any lower?

    1. You cannot have it both ways MM. They either charge or not. This is going to be smoething that millions would wish to attend. At least this way, less people spend money they don’t have on tickets. It’s better than charging them all $25. Also, hopefully this will be a less bias way to distribute tickets. I’d rather this that the scalper-happy first-come-first-served method.

  9. Rain says:

The site crashed after more than 5 million hits swamped it the minute it went live.

This is going to be a memorial for the ages.

His genius deserves to be honoured.

    Fitting in deed!

    1. You are prophetic once again my friend. The second you were pressing submit, I was telling Twitter an update on that figure… “The Michael Jackson memorial registration site ‘received more than 500 million hits…in the first hour’ http://tinyurl.com/md67om

The numbers are out of this world… but don’t really surprise me. Agreed, this way lots of people get to be part of a service as immense as the man himself.

It will be interesting to see just how many people who live outside the USA will actually receive tickets – I suspect we in the UK were paid lip service when we were told the offer was extended to us!

    1. Welcome to the site and thanks for the comment Shirley – The website did say fairly clearly that registration was only ever open to US residents. So the answer would be that if you are outside of the US you would not be eligable. Won’t stop people scalping tickets though.
