Selena Gomez Won’t Be In 50 Shades of Grey

Okay, I’ve heard of 50 Shades of Grey. As in, I know other people care about it and I know it exists. But I haven’t read it and, from what I glean, I’m missing nothing. It sounds like what it is: reductive, porny, tween fan-fic. But, of course, it was immediately optioned as a movie for which every Try actor and actress wanted to be cast so they could alienate their young fanbase (see Kristen Stewart naked or doing sex scenes post-Twilight). One of the people whose name was thrown in the hat was Selena Gomez after she parodied the porn book. Although, she was only interested in mocking it not starring in the real thing. Asked whether she’d play Anastasia Steele in the explicit BDSM movie, the 19-year-old replied: ‘I know I’m taking risks but I don’t think I could do that. That would be a little too much for me.’ Although Pretty Little Liars’ Lucy Hale needs the money: ‘I think every girl on the carpet wants to play [Anastasia Steele]. That would be freaking awesome. I’m really curious to see how they’re going to turn it into a film.’ So does Vampire Diaries’ Ian Somerhalder: ‘I absolutely would be up for that. It could be very, very amazing. I have the book and I just started reading it. That would be a pretty incredible thing, and hopefully that could pan out.’
