Second Sponsor Bails On Chris Brown: ‘Got Milk’ Ads Pulled

Latest news roundup in this shocking story – Chris Brown, 19, has been dropped by a second product for which he was a spokesperson [Website – Amy Grindhouse].

As you may remember, yesterday, Wrigleys somewhat prematurely threw Chris Brown under the bus and ’suspended’ their campaign with him, because “[They] have made the decision to suspend the current advertising featuring Brown and any related marketing communications until the matter is resolved.”  Meaning, they have to protect their financial interests and so will rest on their laurels for a little while, until the real and complete facts come out on record.

Today there is word of a second major product sponsor turning their backs on the star. The geekily named ‘Got Milk’ campaign has announced that Brown will no longer be featured in their ads.

In an unintentionally hilarious and unaware statement the company said “The Milk Mustache campaign is taking the allegations against Chris Brown very seriously.” A company rep tells US magazine. “We are very proud and protective of the image of the Milk Mustache campaign and the responsible message it sends to teens. Mr. Brown’s ad was launched last fall and is scheduled to end this week.”

Um. Ok. At least in the Michael Phelps bong photo scandal, Kellogs waited to hear the facts before they bailed. Seems Olympic winners and other mainstream names are easier to give the benefit of the doubt to than urban artists (one of my favourite race-relations blogs Racialicious has a fantastic write up on the stereotypes in the media reporting of this case).

Either way, a lot of people, bloggers and news outlets, seem to be writing a lot of their updates as fact, before we get a complete story – all joking aside, there is NO excuse for domestic abuse of any sort – but there are two sides to every story and this whole thing just seems as lopsided as BritBrits tittays to me. *sigh*

Rihanna, who was left with bruises, bite marks  and scratches after her fight with Brown, is said to be cooperating with detectives as they launch a battery investigation.
