Robert Pattinson Vanity Fair December 2009

Robert Pattinson, star of Twilight Saga, did a photo shoot and interview for Vanity Fair December 2009.

Robert Pattinson is to star in the upcoming November 2009 movie Twilight Saga: New Moon. The actor is considered one of the most rugged and handsome of his ilk, though some of us have had our eyes checked in the last ten years and see not much more than another greasy homeless person when we look at him.

Pattinson seems to have had some of the grease soaked up for the Vanity Fair shoot, per the outtakes under the cut. The rolls of greaseproof paper I sent him in the mail, wrapped in a pair of fangirl’s panties to make sure they were opened, really seem to have come in handy. He also seems to have shaved. Well, not the day the photos were taken of course, but perhaps some time the week beforehand which is better than he usually manages.

It’s almost as if the magazine banged down his door and surprised him with the shoot, not allowing time for even the most basic grooming. His fans don’t seem all that fussy, which is probably why he continues to leave the house and be captured on film looking quite such a state.

  • Robert Pattinson comes across to the magazine, as just as slovenly as he wants to be: His hotel room at the San Diego Hard Rock Hotel, [...] is littered today with beer bottles, old scrambled eggs, a half-eaten Twix bar, and a dirty pair of jeans on the living-room floor. And he notices that he hasn’t made his bed. “Oh, God. Sorry about that. I’m unbearably self-conscious about stuff,” he admits. To the point where, while filming scenes before the army of New York paparazzi that has been following him around, he is terrified that his “ass crack is showing.”
  • The actor would rather play the awkward outsider than the movie hunk: [Pattinson’s director from the indie film How to Be, Oliver Irving,] “he’d make his eyes water and get himself all worked up … slapping himself and doing everything he possibly could to make him feel ill,” while passersby wondered what the hell was the matter with this guy. When you play a weirdo, he explains, “You can always have an excuse… He’s a weirdo!”
  • The actor and co-star Kristen Stewart’s friendship was brewing offscreen [director Catherine Hardwicke remembers]: “What Rob and Kristen had is a multitude of feelings for each other. Complex feelings for each other. It was what we needed. Complex, intense fascination.”
  • Pattinson himself says of Stewart: “She’s influenced how I’ve done all the Twilight stuff. It’s quite nice to have someone who is genuinely indifferent to the whole spectacle of everything.”
  • For the record, however, Pattinson says the rumors of a love affair are false: “It doesn’t make any difference what you say [to the tabloids]. I’ve literally been across the country [from Kristen], and it’s like ‘Oh, they were on secret dates!’ It’s like ‘Where? I can’t get out of my hotel room!’ ”

Maybe I’ll have more praise when he plays something besides a child; but until then, I dismiss. I’m also sick of his stupid hair.

    1. I don’t get the hype about him, I doubt he’s that good of an actor and he’s not good looking at all. Hmm.

  2. Mystery Man says:

you’d think with all the money he gets from this Twilight stuff, not ot mention that one Harry Potter movie he was in that he could afford a shave and ahircut…not to mention a house. such a shame that he’s homeless…lol

    1. He looks like a particularly down-trodden homeless person, it’s the saddest thing.

  3. Sunny says:

I think he’s somewhat attractive in a sort of he’s hungover, you’re hungover and slightly still drunk way. Yeah, especially the shot with the beige sweater. He’s a bit on the thin side though.

    1. Welcome to the site Sunny, thanks for taking the time to stop by. I don’t get the attraction myself, I prefer my men bathed. But to each her own.
