Robbie Williams became engaged to actress Ayda Field, after he proposed live on Australian radio. The couple have been together for nearly three years.
Williams was on The Kyle and Jackie O Breakfast Show on Sydney’s 2DayFM to promote his album Reality Killed the Video Star. Live on air, he asked Field to be his betrothed for the end of time, in those words. The British singer is a Gerard Butler-level of womanizer and so the proposal is being taken by many to be a joke. He and his publicist dismissed it as such. When the couple landed in Los Angeles this morning Field was not wearing an engagement ring.
However, his mother told BBC Radio 5 Live that Williams mentioned the plan to marry a week ago. She continued that she was pleased her son would stop man-whoring and finally settle down. It’s not clear at this time whether the on air proposal was for attention and the actual proposal took place before hand. But it seems they are engaged and could be married in the not-too-distant future.
