Radiohead Gig Raises over $500,000 for Haiti

Radiohead were hosts to a special one-off concert in aid of the Haiti relief effort.

The band spread their awesomeness as thinly as they could, so there would be enough for each attendee whose funds would go to earthquake victims. The band announced, at the end of last week, that they would host a special concert. The aim of which was to raise as much as possible, by way of auctioned off concert tickets. The funds raised went to Oxfam International, a group that works with developing countries. Prices went as high as $4,000 for a pair of tickets. The closing minimum bid was $475. Kinda blows, in a way, as this meant a bunch of well-off celebrities could afford to buy their way in and step all over real fans. The poor old poorper fans stayed home, listened to their well-aged OK Computer cassette tapes, and found comfort in the warmth of their Ninja Turtle Snuggies.

  1. That’s great! I know a lot of Americans are pissed we’re raising so much money for them, but I think that’s hogwash. We should all help each other when needed.

    1. I have read the same reports, with people blowing steam at the relief efforts – these are the same people who never give to charity/ donate to local causes.

  2. I’m sure you’re right.
