300 Calories a Day Didn’t Phase Portia de Rossi

Portia de Rossi is still talking about the 300 calories a day thing she already covered during her Oprah interview. She’s promoting a new book, and in doing so is repeating herself an uncomfortable amount. We’ve already heard the harrowing tales of anorexia that left her at 82 pounds (she’s 5ft 8in tall). And the eating disorder being made worse by anxiety about hiding her sexuality. Here’s more of the same for her People magazine cover. From what I can tell, it’s like someone took some new photos of her, transcribed the Oprah interview (but not really) and called it a day. For a People cover that looks like a Taylor Swift album, de Rossi says ,’I didn’t think I was crazy to only eat 300 calories a day. That made perfect sense to me.’ But it would have. As her illness took hold and she lost all ability to reason through it. ‘My struggle with anorexia, coming to terms with my sexuality. I realized I had struggled with self-acceptance my whole life,’ she says. ‘To be able to get to a point where you’re just happy with who you are, I think that’s when you know what real peace feels like.’ She’s beginning to heal now. ‘Look, I don’t think I’m perfect. I still don’t like my thighs, but I’m not going to do anything to compromise my health or my sanity to change them.’
