PETA, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, has pledged to temporarily pull a series of ads featuring Tiger Woods. The animal rights group put together an advert, which mocked Woods’ wandering peen. The copy mocks Woods for his serial affairs, and calls for pet owners to spay and neuter their pets, lest they have half as much sex as Woods. It was a pretty funny, if months late, idea. Rather than waste precious campaigning time being sued, they backed down on a (purported) plan to run the billboards. Seems like they were never intended to be run and were just media-bait to be honest. Which is why I don’t bother posting these posters sometimes, and I ignored the original ad. However, it was worth noting that this storm in a tea-cup was over in less than 12-hours.
A PETA rep says [in light of all today's free publicity], in a statement to TMZ: “In light of conversations we have had with Mr. Woods’ attorneys, plans to run our billboard are on hold at this time.” [TMZ]
