I agree this quote is beyond bizarre. Who has that kind of thinking-time in the "heat of the moment". It isn't really heat of the moment if you have time to mull stuff like this over. I love the commentary of the person who wrote the article. They are right, Hilton lacks the cognizance to even explain this one.

You know, I’ve been plenty angry at plenty of people. I’ve cussed plenty of people out, wisely or otherwise, in the heat of anger or after having all afternoon to come up with the right phrases. And NEVER has it occurred to me to include a person’s racial, ethnic, gender, sexual-orientation, shoe size, or weight in any of those cusses. Furthermore, it’s never even *slipped* out – because I don’t think in those terms.

I suppose I was very fortunate to be raised in an environment where that wasn’t how people were judged. I never even *heard* the N-word until we were reading Huckleberry Finn in fifth grade. (For that matter, people were passing around one of the Judy Bloom books in 8th grade, and I was completely lost on the sex passages. “What does this mean? ‘I’m going to come’ where??”)

So maybe I shouldn’t be so hard on the guy – maybe if I HAD been exposed to it, from an early age, I’d fight it too. But honest to God, it is simply appalling to me that he’s going to go public and say, “Well, I was mulling over my choice of epithets, and instead of saying something about his BEHAVIOR or the actual thing that I was ANGRY about, I decided to go for something that he has no control over.”

If you have enough time to think about which slur you’re going to hurl at someone, you have enough time to decide not to use any of them. Grow up, Perez. You’re filled with something, all right, but it is damn sure not wisdom.

this whole sitch is getting said. he can’t seem to let it go, and saying that he wishes he would have yelled the n word. i can guarntee you if he would’ve that would’ve been a whole can of worms he would not have been abke to handle. just ask other public figures that have yelled it out
