Rumors that Patrick Swayze died this morning are not true. Actors representative has denied that Patrick Swayze is dead, reports STV. However, this morning a source from Germany RP Online reported that according to California based KissFM Radio Patrick Swayze died. We visited radio station’s website and could not find any such report. If there was one, it was probably already removed. (via Huliq)
I totally freaked out today when I was attempting to read through my Twitters on my sh*tty little mobile phone and something scrolled down the screen saying that Patrick Swayze died today. I was so bummed, but was eager to get home to find out the full facts so that I could share the truth about the matter. I had just mentally prepared myself for the researching of it (after frantically texting one of my parents to ask if they’d heard anything on the radio since they actually listen to the damn thing) and I find out that the rumours are actually NOT true.
Did we not learn a lesson about disseminating potentially hurtful rumours after the last time this happened…
BOTH Natasha Richardson and Jade Goody were pronounced dead online, days before their untimely passing and it seems that we are back to square one. Twitter went some way to disseminating the matter and I shall not point the finger, but We Can Haz Fact Checking next time we announce that someone has passed away?!?

Makes me SO glad that none of my family members or myself are famous. I can’t imagine how crazy it is hearing about false death rumors.

seriously, they can’t go arund prinouncing folks dead, especially those that already have a terminal illness.
It’s sick right. I read it on Twitter and it gets a lot of the blame for lazy dissemination with no fact checking from idiots who spread links without reading them first.

Sorry, that was more finger-pointing than I meant it to sound Celebrity Dirt. I was just pointing out this is not like getting a pregnancy rumour wrong. I don’t sleep well at night when I lie tell and I was just questioning the practice of lumping mis-reporting of stories like this in with every other rumour.
