Justin Bieber AMAs Red Carpet & Performance

Justin Bieber is still alive. To be honest, I don’t really have anything more intelligent to say about the teenager, so far as his appearance at this Sunday’s 2010 American Music Awards. He was one of the people to walk the red carpet, appear in the press room as shown here, perform, and win on the night. The infant singer was glued to Usher’s hip in the press room. Which is pretty indicative of Usher’s career; clinging onto his more-successful-at-the-moment prodigy for dear life and posing with the teenager’s awards (as well as his own).

It’s all pretty odd, and desperate. Anyhoo, Bieber was once again dressed like a foetal, White Michael Jackson clone. Speaking of which, during one of his acceptance speeches, he said, ‘I want to thank Michael Jackson because without Michael Jackson, none of us would be here’. The 16-year-old performed Pray, which he says is part inspired by the late musican. He won AMAs for Favorite Pop Album, Breakthrough Artist, Favorite Male Pop Artist, and also Artist of the Year.

Lindsay Lohan Inferno Role Recast by Director

Lindsay Lohan’s role in Inferno has been offered to another actress, with the director citing legal issues for the change. Lohan had been cast in the role as Linda Lovelace in the biopic, Inferno, that should have started shooting some time ago, before Lohan failed September drug tests and was sent to court-ordered rehab (where she must technically remain until January 3). The 24-year-old is in rehab one moment/ out the next/ in a sober house/ in her own home/ offered a BS day-pass where her behaviour doesn’t seem to be monitored.

Inferno director Matthew Wilder previously expressed that he would wait for Lohan, that he was disappointed she’d put the production in jeopardy, and that he’d made her sign a sobriety clause, but that it was worth the wait to get ‘our movie’ right. He clearly sobered up and came to his senses. ‘We are currently in negotiations [with another actress] and working out the legalities of bringing her on board. We have stuck by Lindsay very patiently for a long time with a lot of love and support. Ultimately, the impossibility of insuring her, and some other issues, have made it impossible for us to go forward,’ Wilder told E! Online.

Last week, Lohan was granted permission to leave The Betty Ford Center for a weekend visit to her West Hollywood home and meet with Wilder about the film.

Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson’s Pizza Party

Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson have celebrated their engagement. 40 to 50 family and friends were in attendance on Thursday night, including a few NFL players and Ashlee Simpson and her husband Pete Wentz, at the Encino, CA home of Simpson’s parents, Joe and Tina. The party was the usual classy, non-trash fare and totally appropriate for Simpson’s desperate, rushed wedding-to-be. Guests were served hamburger and veggie burger sliders, chicken skewers, mini pizzas, shrimp, and for dessert, mini cupcakes. Sounds expensive, about as expensive as Simpson’s ring. These crazy big-spenders are kicking this whole thing off in style, it’ll be fun to compare the weddings of Feeder/ Fed and Nick Lachey/ Vanessa Minnillo. Here’s betting Lachey’s wedding, paid for by his divorce from Simpson, will be immeasurably nicer. More tasteful and stinking less of desperation and a need for attention. Bare in mind, Simpson’s ‘wedding’ is only on the cards because of her boyfriend’s divorce. He was married, though estranged, when they met in May. Johnson’s divorce from wife-of-five-years, Keri, was finalised October 7. Simpson split from Lachey in December 2005.

Cory Monteith Might Do Construction Post-Glee

Some of the cast of Glee still have their feet on the ground. Despite Matthew Morrison’s quotes in Details, where he worried about the fame-hungry nature of some of the cast and that it would get them into trouble, there’s one he need not worry about. Cory Monteith, 28, also known as ‘why did he get lead male vocals all season one?’, seems pretty grounded. Monteith tells Glee: The Complete Guide, on sale now, that ‘If you’re an aspiring actor and you want a good character study, you should be a taxi driver for a while; you see a lot of characters.’ Adding that if Glee were to end tomorrow, ‘I might do construction. I really enjoyed that. It’s very tangible, and you’re outside all day. It’s good fun.’ Monteith started as a roofer and a telemarketer and then he drove a taxi, before being cast, he told Teen Vogue, in the cover issue he shared with Lea Michele.
