Britney Will Pay $900,000 In Custody Battle Legal Fees

The good news just keeps on coming for Britney Spears…

As if going a bit mad; shaving her head and ‘her little Britney’; losing custody of her children; getting ditched by The Vadge and being baby-sat by her father etc. weren’t bad enough, Spears was also ordered to pay $375,000 to her ex Kevin Federline’s lawyers for representing him in their long-arse custody battle for their two young boys Jayden-James and Sean-Preston. This came after she footed a $120,000 legal bill for Fed-Ex in November.

According to Cele|Bitchy:

So that makes $495,000 Britney paid just to her ex husband’s legal team. In mid July she ultimately settled with Federline without going to court and he now has sole physical and legal custody of Sean Preston, who turns three next month, and Jayden James, nearly two. Britney has three days a week with her sons plus one overnight. All those lawyers hammering out the details for the custody agreement will cost Britney dearly, though. One of her lawyers wants over $300,000 in legal fees.

Lawyer Stacy Phillips wants $338,414.87 for representing Britney, and she claims that’s a discount. Britney’s former divorce attorney Laura Wasser ended up completing the case and her bill is a comparatively reasonable $60,000 for two months worth of work.

I think all these people are being short changed. If you had to be in Brit’s company night-and-day at the height of her ‘fame’ wouldn’t you want a bigger payout?

Jade Goody Diagnosed With Cervical Cancer

Big Brother: UK 2002 star Jade Goody has been diagnosed with cervical cancer. This news comes the same day Christina Applegate got a clean bill of health [Website – Amy Grindhouse].

Goody was the subject of much controversy for many reasons. Not least because during a celebrity edition Big Brother: UK, she became embroiled in the centre of a racism scandal. Goody was labelled racist against Indian people and thus (up til now) garnered little pubic sympathy.

However, today she received news that she has cancer and in a poignant way… on Indian Big Brother!

Goody agreed to appear in Indian Big Brother to prove she isn’t a racist. While on the show, she received the results of her test and all while on film and in the Indian Diary Room. When she found out, she ran out of the room screaming to her fellow contestants ‘I have cancer’.

Producers say they will not release that footage.

According to The Daily Fail:

The 27-year-old was a contestant on Bigg Boss 2 when she was called to the Diary Room to speak to her UK doctor who told her the results of a recent biopsy.

It is not clear whether she has womb or cervical cancer but the latter is far more common in women of her age.

The mother-of-two broke down in tears and sobbed to housemates she had suffered some ‘bad news’ and that she had to leave the house.

She was immediately withdrawn from the programme and was last night being flown home to begin treatment.

Her spokesman Mark Thomas said: ‘It is pretty obvious that she was looking forward to her time in the house but her health is the first priority and she is flying back for treatment and more tests.’

Scary Spice, Mel-B wil renew her wedding vows with husband-who-hasn’t-divorced-her-and-stolen-all-her-money-yet, Stephen Belafonte.

In contrast to the publicity machine behind Brown’s first marriage, she had a quiet ceremony with Belafonte 6 June 2007.

The pair seem in love (I guess) and are saying ‘I Do’ once more, in Egypt.

Brown’s rep has said:

“Regarding the marriage, Mel and Stephen have known each other for many years and were great friends first. Now they are deeply in love. The two are very happy together.”

Jennifer Lopez is lost as to why people find Michael Phelps winning 8 gold medals more interesting than her triathlon training [Website – Amy Grindhouse].

JLo is training for the 22nd Annual Malibu Triathlon… but no one seems to care.

Despite the fact that she has been working off her baby weight since she first gave birth, the details of her training regime have not been in the news.

Disappointed and no less the Diva for being a new mother, Lopez has been whining that that bastard (read talented athlete) Phelps has been stealing all the sporty lime-light.

A source on the set of the morning show told MSNBC’s The Scoop that JLo just doesn’t understand why everyone is talking about “that swimmer” and not about her:

“She couldn’t come up with (eight-time gold-medal winner Michael) Phelps’ name, and then she yammered on about how she was the one training for a triathlon just six months after giving birth, and how that was the big story right now, not ‘the swimmer.’ ”

Michael Phelps new Sports Illustrated cover can be seen above [Website – Amy Grindhouse].

I am a girl, so maybe I am missing something… but isn’t Sports Illustrated a nudie magazine that usually features ladies in various states of undress? Anyhoo, S.I. seem to have gone in a new direction and put a half-naked man on the cover instead.

‘Human Dolphin’ Phelps, shot the cover on Sunday night, in China.

The art direction is a nod to Mark Spitz, the former Olympic swimming champ who showed off the seven golds he won at the 1972 Munich Games.

Which of the two images do you prefer?

The Sport Illustrated Issue will be on news-stands tomorrow.
