Good news for everyone who is also sick of watching this show burn out, The Oprah Winfrey Show is ending. Tim Bennett, president of Harpo Inc., made the announcement on Thursday morning but was drowned out by all the drunken cheering. The episode announcing the news will air live 4 PM November 20, on Channel 9. The show will go off air its 25th season, on September 9, 2011.

Lol @ that picture.
I don’t know why people are surprised. She said 2 years ago that she wasn’t going to be doing the show for that much longer. I just hope I get the chance to be on one of her giveaway shows before it goes off air!
I was feeling silly and the picture just jumped out and grabbed me
Also, it had to end, it’s just the most awful show now. I used to love it, but she’s clearly bored. Hope she does a proper giveaway and not another “recession” one.
Oh agreed. She needs to give away cars again. I think she her show is just an excuse to show off her Louboutins now. She’s not that great interviewer she used to be, but not as bad as Tyra!
Still, it’s the end of an era.
People forget that she was once the “Giant Killer”. That week when the ratings confirmed that she had beaten the “unbeatable” Phil Donahue in the 4 o’clock p.m. time-slot, the entire entertainment industry sucked in a collective gasp. Who would have imagined that an overweight Black woman would dethrone the King of Daytime Talk? Not soon after that (and continued ratings nightmares), Donahue graciously called it quits and relinquished the mantle that Oprah has carried to this day. She has carried it with saccharin panache, but she carried it beautifully.
Oprah and her show will always be remembered as the spark that ignited the Obama express train to the White House and shattered one of the most blatant (and shameful) racial barriers in our nation. And for that the country should be eternally grateful.
Yes, I am a fan.
I was a fan, but she’s her own worst enemy is some ways. I never knew about her stealing away the daytime TV crown, per the above. She’s said herself she couldn’t believe how she was able to appeal to middle-America without so obviously being one of them. Kudos to her on her success, but I’m still glad the show’s going to be over. It bores me and a lot of other people – someone fresher like Ellen needs to be the new Queen.
