Gwen Stefani has packed up her alphabetti spaghetti, her babies, her husband and the retired Harajuku Girls and crawled back to the safety of No Doubt [Website – Amy Grindhouse].
No Doubt has just released a new promotional pic of all of its bandmates (Gwen Stefani, Tom Dumont, Tony Kanal, Adrian Young). I point out that it is a new picture as it looks like a promo of them from about 15 years ago – fashion choices included. It looks like someone dusted off a picture of ND from their Tragic Kingdom days and photoshopped in a cardboard cutout of Gwen (just for shits and giggles).
According to their own ‘Live Chat’ on their site, the No Doubt gang are back for the ‘09 and are inspired to write and perform again. By this, one can only assume that there is a sense of the gravy train leaving the station, with or without the supporting members and Stefani is nice enough to let the boys come for the ride:
Gwen: “I think we should go out now, I don’t think we should wait. Pack up the babies and get a bunch of nannies. So fun! Would be so spiriting to get out there and play all those songs again. I think that if we go on roue, it will inspire us to write. I need to see the fans out there.”
Tony: “I’m down to play. We need to play. It’s been too long… ND 2009… I’ll call management. It’s time to play.”

as a loser kid back in the day, no doubt was pretty cool. tried in vain to see em in concert (opening for bush in va had tix but couldn’t make it, she lost her voice when i had tix for a show in nyc a few months later and so on…). finally caught them out in san diego opening (or maybe co headlining) for blink 182. it was the album before gwen decided to go solo that sounded like all of her solo crap eventually would (’course she took out the horns for the solo stuff). was one of those things where it was cool cuz it had been years coming but sucked because they sucked. did get to meet my favourite pron star (jenna haze) who was sitting right in front of us as she too is a no doubt fan.
i hope it really is a no doubt tour and not “gwen sings old songs with the guys that used to be in no doubt as her back up band”
