Nicole Richie is the rather hungry-looking cover girl for InStyle UK, out tomorrow.
I think I saw this cover, in low quality, last week. However, this is the official release of the high quality cover. Also, the issue excerpts can be found below, along with a behind-the-scenes video and a second picture. Richie is a very pretty girl, though she’s almost ghoulishly made-up here. She’s very stiff, and her body and head don’t seem to be getting along (not to mention the waistcoat makes her torso look the same width all the way down). I can forgive the purple eyeshadow (I arbitrarily decided, some years ago, that I hate purple), as it and one byline provide the only colour. Though, that said, this is the October issue and I guess colours are for Summer. In her interview, Richie talks about her children with fiance Joel Madden, and accepting responsibility for her past.
- On learning from past mistakes: “One thing about me is that I’ve always taken responsibility for my own actions whether they’re good or bad. Even when I was going through my tough time, that was a situation that I created.”
- On whether she blames her parents for her early troubles: “People ask me, do I blame Hollywood or my parents? No I don’t blame my parents. It had nothing to do with them. I created it and manifested it and I got myself through it with the help of a lot of great people.”
- On regretting some of her tattoos: “I’m a Virgo and the sign is a virgin,” she explains. “So when I was 16, I got the word virgin tattooed on my wrist, thinking I was sooo deep and cool. And now I just look really weird having virgin written across my wrist and I have to explain it.”
- On what kind of food she eats at home: “Home-cooked and very, very healthy… and made with love.”
- On entertaining guests: “Well, I don’t have a hat and apron… but I entertain at home a lot. I love cooking for other people.”
- On whether becoming a mother changes the way she looks at her body (it doesn’t): “Being pregnant with Harlow was easy. I was wearing heels for eight months. I never got sick and I was like, ‘Oh, what are people talking about?’ But with Sparrow, I was so sick. And my feet were swelling. They were polar opposite pregnancies.”
- On how two-year-old Harlow picks out her own clothes: “She picks her own clothes. It’s a 20-minute thing, it begins at 7.30 each morning, but it is what it is and it’s fine.”

Nicole doesn’t look hungry. You know, whenever a thin person is on one of these stupid gossip sites – everyone throws the “starving”, “hungry”, “anorexic” words. But If you say that a fat person “looks like she ate enough” then everybody gets upset! That’s because most Americans are fat, over weight, or obese and don’t know what normal looks like. From the 1970s on back, people were thin –> average sized. Now, MOST people are FAT and very few are average size, even fewer are thin. That’s why I do not talk to fat girls and don’t want to have anything to do with fat people. I used to have nothing but fat friends and they were the ones calling average sized people “hungry”. Being obese is not beautiful. Trust me. If it was, then no one would have to continue to convince them!
AmyGrindhouse [...]
