Nicole Kidman covers the March 2011 issue of Marie Claire UK. The cover shows Kidman in a wind tunnel of glitter and lies, as did the March 2011 Harpers Bazaar UK cover for Gwyneth Paltrow. I think that’s a thing now (wind machines are so 2001). I actually saw this cover three or so days ago, so I don’t think it’s entirely new. However, that was a lower quality leak of the cover and not the official release from the publisher, as shown above. There’s a cover and a second image, below, along with Kidman’s interview snippets. She doesn’t talk about becoming a mother for a second time; however, she does talk about motherhood, later in life, and the former marriage between her and Tom Cruise. I’m surprised people can still get her to talk about Cruise. I keep forgetting they were ever together; like she seems to forget they adopted two children, a son and a daughter, together. But, she talks about her and Cruise’s ‘Very, very tight,’ and ‘very private’ relationship. The pictures aren’t as pretty as I was hoping. You can see more in a scrolling gallery on the magazine’s website (I’m only allowed to post the two they gave me, which is fine. Check out the link and select ‘Start Slideshow). It’s all windswept Kidman, wearing ill-fitting, poorly-styled clothes, randomly standing in a field with her mouth hanging open. As well as having her mouth open, she’s trying to seduce you into buying the issue, using her armpits.
- On not forgetting that her adopted children exist: ‘Well, Bella’s 18, and Connor is 15. Bella’s an adult now, and moving into that stage of life. I think most kids at 18 have moved away and are at college so, yeah, it was harder earlier, and now it is what it is.’
- On her former marriage with Tom Cruise: ‘As a couple we were very private,’ she reflects. ‘We were not out a lot and we were very, very tight and that’s why we lasted ten years, which is a good amount of time, particularly when you get married at 23.’ She confinues, ‘I was never seeking to be a celebrity, but I was prepared to do that for love. And that is something that is hard to do. It’s hard when you’re young. But I’m ready to give up anything for love because, ultimately, that is what you have. You get so much from a relationship when it is filled with love.’ She adds, not specifying to whom she’s referring, ‘I’m very driven by falling in love. I fall in love and I’ll drop everything and change everything.’
