I’ll keep this brief, as I never have been one to milk something this sad. As you will all know Natasha Richardson earlier in the week got a serious head injury from a skiing accident. Her life support was switched off early on Wednesday and I am sad to report that she passed away later that day.
According to the AP the New York City medical examiner’s office was conducting an autopsy Thursday on Richardson, the Tony Award-winning actress. The medical examiner’s office said results will be available later Thursday.
The official statement from her family is as follows, “Liam Neeson, his sons and the entire family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Natasha. They are profoundly grateful for the support, love and prayers of everyone and ask for privacy during this very difficult time.”
Celebrity tributes to the star can be found below…
Jane Fonda – “It didn’t surprise me that she became such a talented actor…It is hard to even imagine what it must be like for her family. My heart is heavy.”
Blythe Danner – “I can’t talk because I started crying. I’m heart broken. She was so kind to us when Bruce was ill. She’s so generous. I don’t think that I can handle it.”
Mia Farrow - “Natasha is irreplaceable. I cannot think of anyone kinder, more generous, thoughtful, smarter or more fun.”
Sam Mendes – “She was one of a kind, a magnificent actress. She was also an amazing mother, a loyal friend, and the greatest and most generous host you could ever hope to meet. It defies belief that this gifted, brave, tenacious, wonderful woman is gone.”
Demi Moore - “I am sending out prayers for Natasha Richardson and her family. A real reminder of how precious life is and how quickly it can be gone.”
Martha Stewart – “Just heard the tragic news about poor Natasha Richardson. Her family must be devastated. My sincerest condolences to all.”
Joan Rivers – “This just shouldn’t have happened. And they made such a good-looking couple too. He doted on what she said, she doted on – it was just perfect.”
My thoughts are with her family, including her husband and children – Natasha Richardson 1963-2009. R.I.P.

It’s so hard to understand a tragedy like this and no one ever will. Life is insane. I’m so sorry for her family’s tragic loss. We love you, Natasha.
It’s random, shocking and it was all over so quick, she never really had the chance to fight for her life
This just stunned the people of the City of New York. She and her family are just simply loved and admired here. I got a chance to see her in Cabaret – what a performance, what a performer!!!
She was and remains a shinning light.
Hi Rain, thank you for leaving a message. So sad indeed.
