The comment you make about whether people have any place getting into quite such a lengthy debate about issues that may not effect them is a very interesting one. Thanks for putting it like that, it made me think.

Miss California did express the essence of what she meant, that is a very good way of putting it.

I agree that Perez made his point and agenda clear by asking the question in the first place, the vlog was overkill. And, yes, he should have braced himself for a wider plethora of answers than just the one he wanted to hear.

Perez is only hurting himself by calling her the b word and ranting about it like a ten year old. “She didn’t say what I wanted her to say!” whaaa

It’s not like she wants to rally the troops and sequester ever gay person in the world.

The reaction to this is unwarranted and unnecessary.

He should have prepared himself to hear the answer before he asked it. We all do not hail Perez Hilton.

I mean, wouldn’t you rather have someone tell you the truth about how they feel and have open honest discussions? Or would you rather have the person lie to your face “sure I want gay marriage” and as soon as they go to the voting booth vote against gay marriage?

Not everyone is impossible to talk to.

She spoke from the heart. Who cares if you disagree? Disagreeing with what she said does not make her comment “vocal poop.” If anyone came out with “vocal poop,” then it was Hilton for asking a question which was highly inappropriate and too cerebral for this type of schlock program. But then again… Hilton’s pretty much a schlockmeister.

I am confused, it is okay for Miss California to air her views, but not okay for Perez Hilton or myself to do so?

Miss Cali was proud of a country with free speech, and seems to be at odds with her own beliefs and what democracy is about.

Oddly, she comes off as a desperate people pleaser, and having been there myself, all it does is get one bashed from every side.

Miss Cali is not a newbie to beauty pageants – my great aunt was Miss Washington, and she had been groomed and coached since she was a child. All of the women are prepped, so Miss Cali is not a victim of Perez’s question – it just so happens that it was not the stock pageant question – it was a question that fit the times we are in.

If she was unprepared for that, then I guess we blame her handlers for being stuck in 1959.

I thought that considering Perez was supposed to be a judge, it would have been more fitting to show a little tact himself. Who knows why he took the time to blog that. What did it achieve???

P.S. You should know that Kelly is a veteran community member and has a free pass to say whatever she will.

Thank you for reflecting a lot of my own point – I support everyone’s right to free speech. I do not support people failing in their respective public speaking roles (especially when she should have been trained to take a curve ball). Her ability to show potential as even a mediocre Miss USA is fail. That is my only problem with her.

Hilton wanted her to say (well I just believe people should have the right to choose w/e they want to marry), it backfired and now hes throwing a hissy fit. That is unacceptable as a judge (who the hell brought him to judge anyway), he should be banned and never allowed to be apart of such a thing again.

Let me preface by saying, I’m all for equal rights and gay marriage and was pissed when Prop 8 was passed. That being said, Carrie answered the question honestly. That, I respect. Granted, she could’ve answered it a little more…less bluntly?

Here’s what pisses me off. Not that she can’t articulate well (opposite marriage? Isn’t that divorce?) or make sense (clearly there’s NO choice to have same sex or heterosexual marriages since only 4 states allow it), but that Perez offered alternate answers that DIDN’T answer the question. He pretty much said an acceptable answer would’ve been one that beat around the bush and avoided the question. THAT’S what sets me off.

I agree that at least she was honest about her views. She has every right to do so!

I cannot believe that in essence I agree with Perez. He actually says he is not bothered that she is a homophobe, her horrid answer is what got his goat. She missed the point of the question and provoked the reaction she got today. In a word she is a twit.

We will never evolve beyond this, sad but true.
