Michael Jackson’s final rehearsal at the Staples Center in Los Angeles (video).
UPDATE: The link to register has just been released. Staplescenter.com will have the Staples Center Memorial Michael Jackson Tickets. The registration is apparently open immediately.
“Due to the expected overwhelming demand, the following procedures have been set to accommodate registration for the tickets. Please note that by registering for tickets to attend the Public Memorial Service, it does NOT guarantee the registrant tickets.”
The Lottery for tickets starts right now, 10 am PST Friday, and ends tomorrow, 6 pm PST Saturday. There is a limit on how many tickets you can be allocated.
“Only one entry per individual will be accepted. Registering to attend the Public Memorial Service is NOT a guarantee of tickets. Two tickets will be issued to each randomly selected attendee. Offer valid to residents of the United States only.”
For those of you attending, see also a map and directions to the Staples Center.

this stil sickens me. it’s one thing to have a memorial service and charge with the proceeds going to the family or some organixation, but to charg ofr th funeral is downrighr disgraceful. whoever is behind this shoukd be ashamed!!!
This may mean some people who would have paid can now say their goodbyes for free. We shall see how this plan pans out…
I think it is okay if they charge for Michael’s funeral as long as it is worth it. If there will be big starts who would be there, then I think that would be fine, but it should not be overpriced. Maybe a donation would do.
Welcome – a donation system is a great idea. People had mentioned that the only reason to charge for any of the tickets is to cover minimum costs. I’m sure that most fans would be happy to help cover the costs if a fund of some sort were set up. Or even give a minimum donation in order to register to cover admin costs.
should the words, funeral, tickets, and/or free EVER be in the same frekin sentence??? what is it about death that makes everyone suddenly overlook the life prior to? when oj dies i suppose all we will be able to say is how great a football player he was. if chris brown is in a car accident tomorrow all we will hear is that an up and coming star was taken too soon…. the laws of entertainment are tough to overcome i guess, if the number of people a person entertains exceeds the number of people scarred, hurt or even killed by that person during life all will be forgiven… i dont care, when carrot top dies i will not ever say i thought he was a comic genius and i dont care who i offend!
About how wierd this all is, I agree. But, this is a celebrity of unmatched magnitude and so this is just the way it goes. It’ll likely never happen again in our lifetime, so you’ll be fine

Hi Kristine, Particia and Deborah – welcome to the site.
I am on top of this and am checking various outlets hourly. News releases are slowing down, due to the 4th July weekend. But if the registration link for free Michael Jackson funeral tickets is released, I will of course be posting here.
UPDATE: Hey everyone, the links to register are now LIVE. See the updated post for details, links and directions.
You can see all the details, but a little clearer at a new post I made:

What an incredible honour to receive a chance to attend such a historic event.
You comment did come through Pamela – there is a moderations system so they don’t show up straight away.
Thanks for the note. It will be akin to the Princess Diana memorial. We’ll never see anything like it again.

can’t even get in to register!
Hi Kevin, it may have either closed already or be struggling. The site has hundreds of millons of people on it, so it may be sluggish.
I don’t know why people keep saying hundreds of million.
There were about 1.6 million total. There were over 500 THOUSAND the first hour. Someone reported this as 500 million.
Those were early reports so I went back and checked… and seems you were right Michael. I just checked on CNN and it corroborates your comment!
