Michael Jackson Died Aged 50

Michael Jackson Died Aged 50

Michael Jackson died today, in the second piece of tragic news that has shocked those in the media (earlier today it was announced that Farrah Fawcett passed away also.) This news is so sad, so out of left field and is setting Twitter and people’s social networks on fire as the news spreads.

I never even saw this coming. There had been rumours of ill-health for some time, and as such it had become nearly impossible to separate fact from fiction. Here is what we know of the last few hours; the singer was rushed to the hospital in Los Angeles after suffering a cardiac arrest, reports TMZ. A 911 call came in at 12:21PM at his Holmby Hills home in L.A. The 50-year-old was picked up at his home and paramedics administered CPR in the ambulance.

An updated post on the site says that the singer never recovered from the cardiac arrest. The reports seems a little wobbly to me, as they are from sources inside the hospital. Not official reports from family. I will say this. If I believe initial reports from anybody it’s them. You can hide in a hole on the other side of the world and TMZ can find you. There is little information they are not willing to pay for.

When paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back. A source tells us Jackson was dead when paramedics arrived. Once at the hospital, the staff tried to resuscitate him but he was completely unresponsive. We’re told one of the staff members at Jackson’s home called 911. La Toya ran in the hospital sobbing after Jackson was pronounced dead. (from TMZ)

Michael is survived by three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince “Blanket” Michael Jackson II.

UPDATE: The news is true and reported by MSNBC, USA Today, Sky and BBC.

i can’t get over how depressing this day has been. i’m finding it hard to keep my normal chipper self with all this death this week (when you throw ed mcmahon’s death in there)

    1. I can tell hon. sorry to let you down and not post about that Ed guy, but he’s only famous in the US and to be honest I have no idea who he was!

I’ve had a very hard time holding back the tears. His was the first poster that adorned my bedroom wall (a gift from a friend from middle school who fainted at the news today).

Although I was always a fan of his videos (and his “Off The Wall” album holds a prominent place in the musical score of my life), I was never fanatical about MJ. When many questioned and wondered about the masks (covering germs, yes…from the procedures he had), the gloves (ravages of his “illness”, you figure that one out), the constantly changing facial features, the every straightening and growing hair, the permanent pink lips, it was never a mystery to me. MJ was a female eternally doomed to live in a man’s body. The man who could afford it all couldn’t afford transition to his true sex. That would have ended his fabulous wealth. I always knew. My friend who fainted today just found out. I told her. She finally understood.

Regardless, for those of us who grew up with his near-falsetto as the constant backdrop to our lives, Michael seemed eternal. He was a very vulnerable soul who proved today just how vulnerable we all are.

    Hell, I just started crying…

    1. *Hugs Rain* I was on twitter for near 6 hours before I gave up. A lot of people feel the same way. I was playing some of his greatest hits last night and it took a good few hours to sink in. I always think certain celebs will love forever. He was about the same age as Madonna and look at her health compared to him. She could crush a man with her thighs or run through a damn wall and in his last days he looked like he could barely walk. As someone on Twitter put it, “who knew in his hey day that Michael Jackson would die at 50 and broke”.

R.I.P King of Pop Michael Jackson
    May he rest in peace.
We all are going to miss him.
He’ll live in our hearts forever.

    1. Hi, thanks for leaving a memorial message too. That’s a really sweet thing to write.

  4. Lamar Cole says:

The passing of Michael Jackson is like a star being plucked from the sky. The sky becomes a little dimmer.

    1. Lamar Cole – welcome to the site and thank you for leaving that message. The sky is indeed dimmer :(
