Megan Wants a Millionaire the VH1 show has been cancelled after one of the show’s contestants became a “person of interest” in a murder. The murder that Ryan Alexander Jenkins, 32, stands accused of is that of his wife of two months, former bikini and Playboy model, Jasmine Fiore.
The pair met in Las Vegas and then married two days later, in March 2009. Fiore, 28, was found murdered. Her body had been left in a dumpster behind an apartment building in Buena Park, California. She’d been strangled, stuffed naked into a suitcase and dumped like trash. Such a sad way to go.
According to a friend of the victim who spoke to media outlets, Jenkins was not only a finalist, but supposedly the winner of the whole Megan Wants a Millionaire show. In addition, Jenkins is rumoured to have told numerous friends that he won $250,000 on the show after being chosen as the winner. However, there are conflicting reports about this and the winner has not been verified as yet by VH1.
In either instance, VH1 would have been left in a difficult position. They could not easily edit around him, as he’d featured so extensively by getting so far into the competition. They were not really left with a choice but to pull the plug, even deleted references to it from their website.

I understand why VH1 temporarily took the show off the air, but to remove it permanently is not fair to the people who watched it. And it is obvious that he was a contestant to the end and didn’t make it. I think they should be at least open to airing the episodes at a later date or to be able to watch them on a website or pay per episode. At the very least they could tell us who the winner was. They wheel the audience in with these stupid shows and then want to leave us hanging. It is not fair.
Hello Scott. Since you left the comment I was busy making some additions as this post is getting so many hits. Picture and news detail is included.
I found out that [SPOILER] Jenkins was supposedly the winner of the whole show. That’s why Megan Wants a Millionaire was cancelled, it was too difficult to edit around him. Also, running the show after a murder scandal would have been just too poor taste on Millionaire’s part. Cancellation of Megan Wants a Millionaire was the best option and I for one am glad VH1 did it.
Amy, everything VH1 does with these stupid shows is in poor taste. They define poor taste!
Welcome to the site and thanks for the comment, Angela. I don’t have VH1, but I know of them… well enough to know they like tacky shows. Shame for them as their fall line up is pretty screwed without these two big shows.
actually, the show that ryan jenkins is rumoured to have won is I Love Money 3, which VH1 also may not air now.
I sincerely doubt that megan wants a millionaire involved a cash prize because the show is all about them spending money on her and having money already, and the “prize” was megan.
Thank you for the comment Kate – I had read the “money prize” report only in the context of Megan Wants a Milionaire. It was mentioned in a post about the show and in that context. However, that was a great comment and you’ve made me think that a lot of reports coming out were getting their wires crossed. Peolpe may indeed be getting confused about the two shows. I think you hit the nail on the head! Thanks again for the input.
To clarify, I concur that many reports seem to be confusing the two shows. That is a good explanation of why no two reports I read matched as one would expect.
The source I found the “$250k prize” info on is the site of a friend of mine at Celebrity Smack. The info is in an “UPDATE” section at the bottom of this post.
The rest of the material was put together from there, TMZ, message boards and a few other places.
This is odd. The very idea of “reality” television is oxymoronic. Can there be any reality with cameras in your face? People will either act out or repress themselves under such circumstances.
The very notion of contriving a situation and placing “real” people in it to see how they behave is a state of altered reality. Life happens. It’s not edited, directed, klieg lit, and the actors in the drama is that is real life are not hand-picked.
Still Americans are suckers so they will fall for anything.
I don’t watch these shows and have not done in nearly a decade. They scream fake and not worth watching to me. Of course they are fake. In the UK, before US “reality shows”, for some time now there is a long and rather funny disclaimer that explains the show is a fake, scripted and that entire sections of the show are faked for entertainment.
So, what do you think the odds of the last episode getting leaked online are?
If it’s been filmed, it may leak online LeeLeeLeeLee. It’s just one of those things. If it does leak, for the obvious legal reasons, it’d be pulled really quickly.

Hmmm wasnt this guy a millionaire – lol why did he have to be on another show to win Money on – People with No money should had been on i love MOney – NOT people thats rich – That shows it right there those guys wern’t millionaires at all –
Nice try fake shows – i new it all the shows are totally fake – they should just go ahead and do meganwantsamllionaire 2 – lmao rofl
Indeed Steve – he was very, very wealthy accoding to TMZ. His father was an architect and his family apparently had some form of plane at their private disposal. The shows on VH1 are all fake, the “couples” always break up right after anyway.
I would like to see the remaining episodes,if VH1 could somehow exclude this so called mr. jenkins and if not,i don’t see any harm just letting the public know who Megan chose, the fact being that the public is what gives VH1 it’s ratings anyhow.
OK..I guess I’ll have to be the one to admit that I do enjoy watching these vh-1 reality shows. I find them to be mindless entertainment. The contestants on the show are fun to watch because they act and say real things that maybe other “reality” streamline networks would edit out. What happened IS tragic, but I think the network should quit stringing us along, give their fans (us) some peace of mind and at least reveal who the winners were. My sincere condolences to everyone’s tragic loss.
