Matthew McConaughey Is Kinda Gross

Seemingly perma-stoned ‘actor’ Matthew McConaughey stated in an interview with OK! Magazine that he saved son Levi’s placenta. The star is intending to bury it underneath a fruit tree in an orchard [website – Amy Grindhouse].

Now I am not really squeamish. Even TV blood and guts doesn’t bother me… no, really,I can totally watch an episode of C.S.I. without feeling sick. But I digress… this is a bit too much. What the hell does he need to do this for? I’m no no botanist, but I am pretty sure trees grow just fine without placenta fertiliser. I mean, correct me if I am wrong here.

All I can assume is that one of two things was going through McConaughey’s head when he came up with this:

This would be such a nice daddy thing for me to do. As the tree grows, I can sit under it with my son and share with him the totally gross truth about what it is planted with.
Maybe if I plant a tree using placenta, maybe more babies will grow!

According to E! News:

“It’s going to be in the orchards, and it’s going to bear some wonderful fruit,” the actor said, per a transcript of the very informative sit-down. “When I was in Australia, they had a placenta tree that was on the river…and all the placentas of all that tribe, all that clan, whatever aboriginal tribe that was, all the placentas went under that one tree and it was this huge behemoth of just health and strength.

“This tree was just growing taller and stronger above the rest of Mother Nature around it. It was gorgeous.” Beautiful sentiment, yes. Tribal and earthy and natural, yes. But we still recommend taking a pass on the fruit salad when you’re partying at McConaughey’s house.
