Marie Osmond’s 18-year-old son, Michael Blosil, committed suicide.
At this point I am over re-hashing the notorious Celebrity Summer of Death 2009. Let’s just assume it’s no longer safe to be a celebrity, nor relative of a celebrity, and stow them all away on a ship at sea. Or force them all to retire and work at IHOP where nothing exciting or dangerous ever happens.
The teenager, one of Osmond’s eight children, commited suicide on Friday night in Downtown Los Angeles. He is thought to have jumped from his LA apartment at around 9 PM. Paramedics responded to a 911 call just before 9:30 PM, Friday night, with the caller(s) indicating that someone fell. Law enforcement say Blosil left behind a suicide note, indicating he intended to take his own life after spending the larger part of it dealing with depression.
The LAPD has launched an investigation, with the case now being turned over to the coroner. Should foul play be suspected, which it is not at this stage, it would turn into a homicide investigation. An autopsy and toxicology will be conducted.
A rep for Marie Osmond released this statement: “My family and I are devastated and in deep shock by the tragic loss of our dear Michael and ask that everyone respect our privacy during this difficult time.” [TMZ]
Donny and Marie Osmond cancelled their show in Vegas, scheduled Feb. 27.
