Mariah Carey has taken to her official Twitter to talk about how she was too overcome with emotion to sing at MJ’s memorial ceremony. The singer, who was seen to be very emotional and struggled to get notes out without her voice cracking up, says that looking back she wishes she’d done a better job.

She is totally being too hard on herself. The performance was not that bad and from the sounds of it, she didn’t know the coffin was going to be right in front of her during the performance. Anyone would crack up.
I thought she sounded pretty awful, at least for Mariah standards. I’m glad she explained herself. Some may feel MiMi didn’t have to give an explanation, but she probably feels much better after posting this, so good for her.
Fair point, I was just thinking how freaked out I’d be if I had to sing only feet away from the man’s coffin.
it was top notch for her, but had any normal person given a performance like that it would have been stuff of legend, y’know?
She did her best, and is prolly responding to all the ribbing she has been getting. Sigh.
It was not an inspiring performance, but it was totally understandable. Although, I have to admit, I would have much preferred Whitney Houston.
I can guarantee she would have brought the house and the tears down .

I saw pictures of her and thought she could’ve worn a dress with a little more decorum for a memorial/funeral.
