Mariah Carey sat down with Elle magazine to talk about married life and to promote her album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel.
At first I had assumed, like most did, that La MooMoo and her butler were just another partnership in fauxmance that existed only for the cameras and that they cared not for each other. They just seemed so full on, after barely knowing each other, in a way that usually screams that a couple is bogus and headed for a split.
But I gotta say, I take my earlier comments back. They are clearly bonkers in love and I’m not even mad at them for it. They’re actually so cute at this point I need me some Pepto or something to settle my stomach. I get a little giddy and sickly writing about their love-in.
- Mariah on whether any of the tracks on Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel hold a special meaning for her: Since I write almost all my songs, they all do. But a song like “The Impossible” is very much where my life is right now because I am actually in love for the first time.
- Mariah on how married life is after one year of being with Nick Cannon: Amazing, better every day.
- Mariah on the couple’s new home together in LA: It’s a Georgian manor. We basically redid the entire thing, from the floors to landscaping to the closets, which are inspired by my New York apartment, with a men’s and women’s department store-esque feeling. Of course, I have the salon and Nick has a basketball court, which is his favorite place in the house. And I love having the outdoor space so the dogs can play. It’s not too small; it’s not too big; it’s not a monstrosity. It’s a home.
- Mariah on how she and Nick spend their free time: We travel a lot. I think we’ve been to over 35 cities already.
