Madonna has been sued by a clothing company that alleges the singer has been unfairly using their trademarked brand name of Material Girl. The company is suing over the recently-launched at Macy’s junior fashion brand, for which Taylor Momsen is the face. L.A. Triumph, Inc. claims, in a new lawsuit, that it has been selling clothing under the trademarked name of Material Girl clothing since 1997.
They are hoping that a judge will rule Madonna using the same name creates ‘confusion in the market place’, meaning people won’t be able to tell which brand of clothing is which. Moreover, they want her to be ordered to turn over all profits generated from the brand. Madonna is yet to comment on the lawsuit.
