Madonna’s cover for her upcoming greatest hits album, entitled, Celebration, is above. The cover is a composite of two Madonna photos (gallery far right). This album will be a must for her fans.
Part of the Madonna greatest hits Celebration press release is below.
“Celebration, the CD will also include two new songs that were recently recorded in New York City. The first single, also titled, Celebration, co-produced by Madonna and Paul Oakenfold, will be released August 3rd. A video for the single, which will be included on the Celebration DVD was just filmed in Milan, Italy and was directed by long time Madonna collaborator Jonas (“Ray of Light”) Akerlund. Several dance club remixes of Celebration are already headed to the clubs. The song will also be available on CD and vinyl maxi. Radio will receive the Celebration single on August 3rd.
The cover for “Celebration” was created by street pop artist “Mr. Brainwash” who is best known for “throwing modern cultural icons into a blender and turning it up to eleven.” (via All About Madonna)
Madonna’s greatest hits album is set for a Sept. 29 release in the U.S.

so, this is supposed to remind us of when Madonna wasn’t trying to take the crown from Angelina and striaght guys actually still liked her music? lol
I do forget that she is actually a singer sometimes. Wow.
Correction: Straight guys NEVER liked Madonna’s music. C’mon. Also, the face image is from ‘90, the hair is 80’s. And where the F is Dress You Up? That’s such a great song and she (almost) always shafts it .
Welcome to the site and thanks for the comment and correction on the image date Kat. Took it out, as it was easier than correcting. The tracklist is from DrownedMadonna. If corrections are made, I’ll edit the above at a later date.
I’m not happy about this track listing. Is it real? Its just a copy of her first Greatest Hits with a few from the second one thrown in. How very lazy. This was the perfect chance for classics not on the first two Greatest Hits to be included.
Infact I’m not buying this. Madonna has said countless times that Live To Tell is her favourite single and i’ve just noitced its not there.
Thank you for the comments Carol. I already stated in the comment above where I got the tracklisting from and that it is alleged. I also stated that if it were updated, I would make a correction to the above.
You can check out where I got the listing. It was Drowned Madonna via ONTD.
I’ve done a little more researching since creating the post. No one is offering any corrections or updates to the CD tracklists above. If it is posted on Madonna.com or similar, I’ll check again.
For the time being, I have no reason to think the Drowned Madonna fansite provided an inaccurate listing.
I wish she would have included “Causing a Commotion”, “Who’s That Girl”, “True Blue” and “Dress You Up” and the video version of “Fever”… those were some great songs… one way she could have made more money was to include some of those songs on the single disc
I am so psyched about this collection!! Do you know what videos will be released on the DVD?
Welcome to the site and thanks for the comment Mike.
I did a little Googling for you and found out the following:
This would mean that the 1 CD edition, 2 CD edition and the DVD of Celebration would all be released in the US Sept. 29. You should therefore be able to pick up the DVD, Sept 29.
Thanks so much… I appreciate that…I am psyched!!
Welcome back to the site, Mike. You’re most welcome, no problem!
where is whos that girl, causing a commotion, dress u up & angel?
I am so happy with this CD, but I agree those songs should be on there too… maybe we will get lucky!!
Or maybe Who’s That Girl will be on video on the DVD
I have a question… is the DVD for the Sticky and Sweet Tour coming out with this package too?
I’m not sure. There has been no mention, so I assume not.
Amy do you know if these songs are going to be the single versions? I am guessing in order to get all those songs on 2 discs they will be edited like she did with TIC and GHV2… I wonder if she will release “Revolver” as the 2nd single…
Not that much detail has been released. We shall have to wait until that detail on the official tracklist is reported on Madonna.com or similar. I gather that would be the best place to get the list of what will be radio or remix edits.
I don’t like the tracklisting..where the hell is who’s that girl, causing a commotion, angel, dress you up, used to be my playground, live to tell etc etc This is basically her 2 greatest hits CD’s combined in one…she should have trashed american life, human nature, hollywood and beautiful stranger…i mean i would have preferred “american pie” over any of those. Severely disappointed, wont be buying this one
First of all, I cannot WAIT to own this compilation! And I already own 17 of her CD’s. Now there’s a killer Madonna anthology!!! Hopefully in another couple of years. Having said that, I cannot wait for ‘Celebration” to be released.
If we’re ever going to make a Madonna “Definitive” collection of singles you’d need five cds. I’m not willing to call it complete without ALL the singles. If you’re going to include British singles like “Drowned World” then you really need to include “Look of Love”, “Gambler”, “Dear Jessie”, “One More Chance”, “Bye Bye Baby” and “Another Suitcase in Another Hall”. “Spotlight” and “Wheres the Party” where also released as singles in select countries, so I say put ‘em on too!
It really is a shame if LIVE TO TELL and WHOS THAT GIRL?,TRUE BLUE
are not on this-they were huge hits & deserve respect!!!!
WHOS THAT GIRL is always forgot about-she hasnt done it since 87.
Its weird everyone I ever talk to about the movie has seen it !!
I could never understand why the movie didnt do well-She was everywhere you looked that summer!!! Excellent tour-it was all live and amazing.1st concert I ever saw and ill never forget it .
I LOVE edwards box set track listing above!! i agree that its time for a madonna box set. she has so many great songs that the public has forgotten about…..i mean i love lucky star and holiday, don’t get me wrong…but with this new greatest hits compilation i think they are missing out on too many earlier hits. oh well i can always download my own compilation on itunes lol
oh yeah one more thing, kinda off topic but…when are they going to re-release “like a prayer” remastered and with bonus tracks?? i have been waiting for that for a long time…that is a CLASSIC album and madonna never sounded better!
me 2, very upset at the fact that Who’s that girl, True Blue, Live to Tell and Dress you up are not there.
I can’t believe she even left out Nothing Really matters and Power of Goodbye?
Hope this isn’t the final list and hope it is revised.
whatever madonna releases, i’ll surely buy it
just hope that angel,burning up,dress you up,who’s that girl,causing a commotion,true blue,gambler would be in the album.
I agree ,LIVE TO TELL IS A CLASSIC,and It really needs to be on here.I think it would be complete with that one song, dont you??
CANNOT wait for the DVD
aslong as these tracks haven’t had that awfull qsound remix thrown all over them then i’ll buy the cd . . . the first three madonna albums we’re remastered and sound just as good as the last ones so you’ll be able to add any old tracks missing like live to tell dress you up angel and true blue without having them sound rubbish next to the new songs, i agree with steve though, warners should rerelease like a prayer, it’s been over 20 years and that album does sound dull on my ipod, madonna i love you keep up the good work, mwah
No love for “Where’s the party?”
And I also think that Live to tell should be included in that lsit.
