Lily Allen rage-tweeted over rumours in the Daily Mail about a supposed post-miscarriage wedding. The gossip column, written by journalist Katie Nicholl, claimed to have spoken to a ‘friend of the pair’ about the ‘wedding’. The post, entitled ‘A New Year wedding to ease Lily Allen’s baby grief’, claimed the ceremony would bring Allen, 25, and boyfriend Sam Cooper, 32, closer, after realising how much they meant to one another following the loss of their unborn baby at six months. The newspaper claimed Allen and Cooper, who met in the Summer of 2009, would marry early next year in Gloucestershire. I skim-read the rest of the story, and found it pretty f**king disgusting. Making up rumours about how the loss of their baby bought Allen and Cooper ‘closer together’ and because of that they’d decided to push ahead with a wedding. NO, dear. The entire thing read like the deranged ramblings of someone with no capacity for empathy. Allen, who read the article too, concurs; she went on Twitter to call Nicholl a ‘lying c**t’ for writing the piece. Word. Soon after calling Nicholl a ‘lying c**t’, Allen deleted the messages and replaced them with the above; stating that Nicholl threatened to call her lawyer if the messages calling her a liar were not removed. Allen re-wrote the tweets, removed the word ‘lying’ and left the rest.

If anybody is calling lawyers it should be Lily. Calling somebody a C*nt isn’t against the law, but misreporting a medical diagnosis is.
The journalist didn’t misreport ‘a medical diagnosis’, she misreported a wedding.
Moreover, per the post, the threat related to being called a ‘liar’, which was later deleted.
Lilly Allen has all my sympathies both for recent events and for dealing with this nasty piece of work.
Ordinarily I’d say that people are making Twitter way to personal for such a public forum, but after hearing the details, Lily may have been spot on.
