Leona Lewis leaked Max Martin-produced track, I Got You, from album Echo.
I slipped into a coma at some point, around the middle of this song, so do forgive me not giving it a proper review. From the first half I listened to, which I rather enjoyed, I’d say I Got You isn’t so bad.
As a commenter on ONTD pointed out, the track kind of sounds like the part two of her single Bleedin’ Love. That was a great song, but it hardly needed a follow up single. Rather than another life-draining, coma-inducing ballad, I would think it would be better for Lewis to step her game up a little, and do anything else. Just for one single, so people don’t immovably label her a one-trick pony.
The whole industry fame machine that’s X Factor, Pop/American Idol, etc. seems to force their pawns to create only the sappiest of music regardless of their potential. It’s so sickeningly formulaic. That’s why I can’t buy into that scene- I can’t suspend my disbelief and boredom long enough to enjoy the fun.
You’re not missing anything. Leona is one of the most talented singers to come out of the UK in a long time, but she is being left in the dust. These songs are so samey and dull… it’s such a waste of a great voice.
