Lea Michele is a Cheap Date for Marie Claire UK

Lea Michele isn’t getting the best reviews after the latest episode of Glee on which she played the teenage, brunette version of Britney Spears. She was labelled an insufferable bish by Gawker for being so annoying during the episode and others weren’t much nicer. She had her moments, but she wasn’t even on screen that much. She was pretty much a plot device. The show belonged to Heather Morris for her impression of the post-puberty, pre-breakdown Spears. All Michele really did was meander through until she was given a convenient but not particularly convincing reason to belt another slow song at the end of the show. One that felt incongruous with the rest of the episode. Whatever. She looks very pretty here and it’s not like she wrote the inconsistent, sloppy-in-places plot. Here’s the Glee star on the cover of Marie Claire UK magazine for its November 2010 issue. In it, she tells the interviewer what a cheap date she is. Okay, more so that she ‘has one glass of wine and [she's] completely gone.’ WHEE.

  • On pAArtying: ‘I can honestly sit down in front of you and say I don’t smoke and I don’t do drugs. I never have and that’s who I am.’
  • On her drinking… or not: ‘These days I have one glass of wine and I’m completely gone. I don’t even think I’ve ever tasted a cosmopolitan before. I much prefer a glass of wine and a bath at home at night to relax.’
  • On working on Glee: ‘We knew it was a great, great pilot, but there hasn’t been a successful TV show that has music in it for, like, ever,’ she gushes. ‘Ally McBeal did it kind of; Fame. But for years it hasn’t been done.’
  • On why she loves the show: ‘What I love about our show is that it opens your eyes to a lot of things without being preachy.’
