Lady Gaga’s Hair as The Statue of Liberty for V

According to V magazine, Lady Gaga is the Statue of Liberty. Okay. My word, there are so many things going on with this cover. First things first. Gaga and fashion designer Marc Jacobs cover the Fall 2010 issue, #67, of V. This feels like the 15th time Gaga has been on the cover, but whatever. The fashion-forward duo were shot by Mario Testino, and styled by Nicola Formichetti, for the so-titled New York Issue. Gaga is covering her bottom half, for once. Which makes a nice change. She’s still in her bra, though. And her Statue of Liberty crown is made of hair. So, don’t worry, the world hasn’t gone to heck. In case you were wondering what the V was made of, as was I, it’s gum. I thought it was screwed up condoms for a second, but it’s gum, courtesy of artist Dan Colen.

There are also two alternative magazine covers below, available exclusively online (containing content not available in the newsstand versions) and in quantities of 1,000, by New York artists Spencer Sweeney and Nate Lowman, who customized their own covers exclusively for the V magazine e-commerce shop.
