Lady GaGa ‘LoveGame’ Video Banned

Lady Gaga – LoveGame (Official video – skip to 2:22!)

Lady GaGa’s video for ’LoveGame’ has been banned from Australian TV, for being too racy.

The often PVC clad singer, best known for not wearing pants, was accused of ”frequent verbal and visual sexual references”.

‘LoveGame’ is at No.18 in Australia. Duchess GaGa repeats a few particularly sexual and comically unsubtle references to male privates and sexy times.

GaGa repeats the sexual euphemism “I wanna take a ride on your disco stick” multiple times. In the video she also does one shocking scene, in which she lays back, spread-eagles and shows one of her (presumably gay) backing dancers what junk she has going on down there.

Australia’s Channel 10 in-house censors have given ‘LoveGame’ an M rating; clips must be rated either G or PG to appear on Video Hits, reports The Herald Sun.

“It’s pretty rare we get a pop clip that’s sexual to the point there’s almost no way we can edit it without destroying the original intent of the video,” Video Hits producer Ben Fletcher said yesterday.

You can check out Lady GaGa’s other videos on her official YouTube channel.

I didn’t know about that sexy scene until this story came out. I’ve watched the video but was completely unaware. SO whorish, I love it!

Banning Lady Gaga will only give her more publicity. :)

    1. Hey babe, this is so slutty right. Wonder what the view is like, but think my life is better not knowing. The video is kinda a trainwreck for daytime TV. So they did the right thing!

  2. Mystery Man says:

and here i thought American TV was uptight and conservative. i don’t see anything wrong with what she did or said. they should listen to some early lil kim if they want to hear and see some raunchiness…lol

    1. It is! UK TV lets more slide through. I can see this playing here without anyone batting an eyelid.

  3. Joanne says:

“take a ride on your disco stick”? More like she took a ride on the ugly stick and then beat herself with it.

Flashing her junk like that? She’s absolutely repulsive and so’s her “music”.

    1. Hello Joanne, thank you for leaving a comment.

I am going to respectfully disagree on the music front, as I find GaGa fresh and just fascinating in a way no artist has been in at least a few years. She is kind of a butta face, depending upon the pics you see of her, but I can let that slide.

I don’t personally have a problem with this video, but I can see how a lot of people could get offended. What she is trying to do here is basically be unlike anyone else, and bring out the shock factor which she’s successfully managed to do.

    1. Thank you for leaving a comment.

Her shocking people is getting her more sales, so I have to agree.

  8. Danny says:

I cant believe this, When I got told that this song was getting banned in Australia, but then supposedly its now getting banned in UK as well. I LOVE this song, and to be quite honest, there are worse songs out there that has been allowed to be played. And having paparazzi brought out instead……..well, its not in the same league as Lovegame, and personally, I don’t think paparazzi will get to number 1, but it will show a different side to Lady Gaga.

    1. Welcome to the community Danny, thanks for leaving a comment.

I didn’t know it was getting banned in the UK too. That is a little ridiculous. There are fare more provocative rap videos and nobody says anything. Female objectification is all well and good, so long as it is done by a patriarch.

  9. Alex says:

This could have got to number 1 in the UK but now it has been scrapped and Paparazzi is being brought out instead I really don’t see it getting into the top 10. There are worst things out there than this. Rappers slagging off women and treating them like….well whores.
She is just expressing her sexuality and showing us, yet again, why we love her. She is fresh and edgy and proves that with her 2 number 1s.

    1. Hi Alex, welcome to the community and thank you for leaving a comment. I agree, it’s a far better song and had a much better chance of hitting the top of the charts. And, there are far worse/ more provocative songs in the charts at the moment!

  10. Ken says:

I’ve seen the video and I absolutely agree with the comments. LoveGame is a kick-ass song that proves of another #1 for GaGa. For Christ’s sake, their are MYRIADS of Rap/Hip Hop songs that often show something about sex, cursing and often objectionable images showing sexy girls rubbing their arses, making out etc.

I’m not liking “Paparazzi” for the UK at all. Maybe she could release “Money Honey”, it kinda has some kind of the same feel as LoveGame.

I honestly and genuinely believe in GaGa’s artistry and she’s just overflowing with talent and I’m betting if “LoveGame” will be released, it will go straight to #1.

    1. Welcome the site Ken and thank you for taking the time to leave that comment. I think most people in this thread are in agreement!

  11. Dan says:

Nothing to do with the multiple product shots of Campari and G-Shock watches then..?

    1. Hi Dan, thanks for leaving a comment. You have a point, I guess, but in the UK, the law states all in video advertising where the brand can be covered should be blurred or masked in some way. US artists are being tacky and trying to circumvent advertising laws. Easy enough to fix and not worth banning a video for.

  12. antybobanty says:

    Bummer.

It’s probably my favorite song and video of hers. Why does this get banned and not some rap videos? I agree, they’re worse.

    1. Hi antybobanty – welcome to the site and thanks for chiming in on the discussion.

  13. Amylushlips says:

How is this banned? god i’ve seen worse on the tv screens! sorry but sex is exploited far too much now anyway so i think this is quite weak to what i’ve seen!

This number would’ve gone to number 1 in the UK, and i agree with many of the comments above, the paparazzi song won’t reach the top 10 seeing as though its so boring!

ohhh gaga, what are we going to do with you eh!

    1. Hey Amylushlips – thanks for the comment and I love the name!

I completely agree, the substitute song is too weak to make an impact and as such she has ruined her chances of follow up chart success. She should have had some guts and risked the release. “Love, Sex, Magic” plays on TV here and no one bats an eyelid!

  14. Mystery Man says:

and i thought the US censors were paranid about stuff like that. censors need to calm down and just show stuff. its not like its anythng that folks don’t see during their lifetime atsome point anyway

  15. Marky says:

I think the video is pretty provocative. But I don’t believe it’s to the point that it should be banned. She doesn’t actually show anything to the camera. Yeah, the back up dancers saw, but will anyone else see what they saw when they watch the video? No. Now, if the video displayed full frontal nudity like Bjork’s videos for Cocoon or Pagan Poetry, that would be a different story.
