Lady GaGa Influence Seen on Couture Runway

Lady GaGa Influence Seen on Couture Runway

Lady GaGa is a menace to pop music, who spends so much on her audacious wardrobe that she apparently going broke. However, love or hate the enigma, you have to admit the woman is hard to ignore.

In a music landscape littered with pretenders and autotune, GaGa has put her fashion and music stamp all over the charts. Only one album into her career, she already has an army of imitators.

While sticking your lawyers on the pre-teens biting your style is easy enough, it’s not so easy to keep tabs on who is biting your fashion game (GaGa found this out the hard way when Parasite copied her hair bow look). According to Style.com, GaGa’s fashion sense is so good that it is influencing the clothes that came down the runway at haute couture.

This is subject to opinion of course, but I’ll take the word of a site clever enough to have the word “Style” in their name (I’m betting their staff are classy enough not to wear pyjamas to work).

According to the site, “allusions to this pop culture omnivore (who is attired by a Warholian gaggle of twentysomethings working under the moniker Haus of Gaga) [were found] at the haute couture in Paris. And yet it was hard not to detect a hint of the Gaga effect in Gaultier Paris‘ leg-bearing bodysuits, Christian Lacroix’s sculptural skirts, Givenchy’s dangling chains, and even the pouf-skirted finale dress at Chanel.” (via Style)

You can view a slideshow at Style of the looks and judge for yourself.

this could be good for her if she made the smart decision to copyright her look.

thing about it is that most things that are on the catwalk don’t go much further than that.

GaGa’s stuff seems destined for catwalk legend, though. when she finishes her music career, she should go into designing

    1. She has missed a trick by not starting her own branded line to capitalise on the many, many trends she has started.

Maybe I’m just old, but I see nothing original about this broad. She’s just banking off 80s stuff. Grace Jones, Rick James, etc rocked similar fashions (and music). That silver dress even looks like one off of “Better off Dead”- the chick singing at the dance wore one very much like it.

        Sorry GaGa, I’m totally unimpressed.

        1. Oh. My. Gawd. That comment rocked my blinkered little world. I think you may be entirely right. The 80s and Grace Jones things in particular make sense. *… runs and cries in the corner*
