A Bunch Of People Quit Their Relationships At Thanksgiving

Not being American (or Canadian) I don’t really know or care enough to learn what Thanksgiving is. But going by today’s news, I think I’ve got it. It’s ‘The time of year when you and your partner officially quit each other with statements to the media.’ Which saves me about 10 seconds of skim-reading the Thanksgiving Wikipedia article. Two couples have confirmed they’re over today. Kimora Lee Simmons and Djimon Hounsou confirm in a statement that they’re separating after a kid and five-and-a-half years together. His rep said in a statement: ‘Djimon Hounsou and Kimora Lee Simmons have officially separated after 5½ years. Though never married, they have one child together, Kenzo Lee Hounsou, who is 3½ years old.’ Also, formerly Blossom now Amy Farrah Fowler on Big Bang Theory Mayim Bialik confirms on her website that her marriage of 10 years is over (she says it’s not because she sleeps in another room with her kids and leaves her husband alone some nights as part of her attachment parenting). She explains: ‘After much consideration and soul-searching, Michael [Stone] and I have arrived at the decision to divorce due to ‘Irreconcilable Differences.’ Divorce is terribly sad, painful, and incomprehensible for children. It is not something we have decided lightly. The hands-on style of parenting we practice played no role in the changes that led to this decision; relationships are complicated no matter what style of parenting you choose. The main priority for us now is to make the transition to two loving homes as smooth and painless as possible. Our sons deserve parents committed to their growth and health and that’s what we are focusing on. Our privacy has always been important and is even more so now, and we thank you in advance for respecting it as we negotiate this new terrain.’
