Kind of tired of repeating myself and having people make assumptions about how I may feel, rather than read the post. Not too bothered about challenges to an arguement, so long as they are actually about the post.

It strikes me that rather than read what the post said, some may be reading the title and then her comment to Essence and then going from there.

The post is about my initial reaction and not putting any judgements onto other people. As I said My reaction was x, what was yours…

Date whomever you like, Kim, I really don’t care. Your lack of self-awareness and bluntness in an odd setting was an oddity to me, almost funny, but not really worth typing out the same response comment ten times in a row.

I was balking at the oddity of the comment in the context. It struck me as a slightly odd, and for those who read the above I said that was my reaction, make of it what you will. For the third time, no controversay. Sheesh.

So she doesn’t date black guys and where’s the contro? People are allowed to have preferences. That did not change because we voted for Obama.

I don’t date black guys either. I mean I tried once when I was younger. It was just something bigger than I could possibly accommodate at that time in my life. Far from rubbing me the wrong way and leaving me raw, the experience left me bruised and aching.

(You said lay off the racial sass, not the sexual innuendo…hee hee!)

And Amy, you would be surprised to find out that in the Gay community Kim’s attitude is even more prevalent.

To be clear again, I never said she cannot have a preference and per the above, I don’t care about that. Don’t care. I don’t particularly care about her at all. I’m not the only one to notice the comment and find it a little odd in the context, PopCrunch (who reach a much, much bigger audience than I) ran a similar article on the quote [you can see where I picked up the story].

In an interview with Essence Magazine Thursday, the adultress star of Bravo’s Real Housewives of Atlanta felt compelled to reveal that she does not date African-American men.

Here are Kim’s thoughts on not sharing the love with “The Brothas.”

“…I don’t date Black men. I never have. It’s not a prejudice. It’s just a personal preference. People always think that Big Papa is Black. I don’t know why. I’ve never dated a Black man. It’s not to say it wouldn’t happen in the future, but at this time, I never have.”

Puh-leeze! This woman will bed anything with a penis and pair of trousers. We don’t believe you — you need more people!

Everyone can have a preference. As you made note of, it’s the context that left me scratching my head.

i’m not sure i see the problem, either. everyon has their preference. some guys like skinny girls, other like em fat and juicy. i figure she’s the same way, she just doesn’t dig on black guys. no big.

now, why she would say t hat in Essence magazine is, like you said, more than a bit odd.

who is this woman again and why is she “famous”?

I like commenters with the balls to ask direct questions about posts like this. What do you think of her comment then?

I think it’s hardly the most offensive thing ever… I never said it was. As I said read it and take if for what it is.

It just made me pause and question her motive for phrasing and revealing what she did, in quite that way. Kim likes the spotlight and she got it with this comment.

You’re kidding me, right? It’s an odd thing to say, that invites controversy. She said it to a niche magazine, who aren’t going to thank her for it. At best she sounds thoughtless and at worst perhaps predjudice. Have a preference, no one cares. But have enough brain cells to either say it in a more appropriate setting or keep it to yourself.
